Per Eggers: Blazers looking to move up in draft, take point guard

Yeah but he was a "leader" on a championship team in college.

He played for Magic Johnson's old college team and had a great smile like Magic Johnson. And he was a point guard (like Magic Johnson). And like Magic, he led them to a championship.

Despite no similarities to their ability, you have to think that maybe he'd be the next Magic Johnson.

FWIW, Canzano talked to another GM and said there is still a lot of interest in Batum around the League.

I think you just really wanted to talk about Magic Johnson.

The "Magic Johnson" you might be thinking of is in the Oden thread.

I'm sure. Pretty bitter sweet for Blazer fans, HATE to see him go, but he could fetch us just about whatever we need. w/ filler of-course.

I like Nic, but you vastly overstate his worth ... he couldn't net us a young stud point guard nor a high quality big man for instance. If he is traded he'd probably be able to get us a MLE type 1 or 5 and even then you'd probably have to sweeten the pot with Andre Miller's unguaranteed deal.

Yep.

Is that filler "LaMarcus Aldridge"?

I'm sorry I don't think we need to "blow it up" like you so called "realists". IMO all we need is another solid backup big and a past first PG that can also drain the three. Very achievable with Batum + Dre and PA's cash

Personally , I'd rather keep em both, try an get lucky in the draft, and see how the offense looks with a legit center

I think what he was referring to is that the "filler" would need to be substantial to add a young PG worth anything

I guess my standards are lower than most. It seems anything less than CP3 is not worth anything around here. I still believe AJ has a shot at being better than bayless, jack, or steve blake.

I think your standards are fine. I think the biggest difference with many posters on here ie simple. Some believe we are closer than others.

I don't agree with his value fetching "whatever POR needs" but I DO think he along with a few other moveable assets could net a top 5 pick in this year's draft....

For the sake of hypothetical conversation, if you could turn Batum/assets into Derrek Williams, do you do it?

I guess it would depend on the team you are trading with and the player you are after. Irving, Williams and probably Knight would be out of the question. Kanter is tough to say, but with the questions circulating about the condition of his knees he might be "get-able." Beyond that, I'm not sure the players you could draft would be worth the cost in this shitty draft.
