I think it's been 3 just this month. Maybe the hitters not being on steroids and peds has something to do with it?
It does make a difference. Pitch a perfect game, game ball and jersey go in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Even if it's a so-so pitcher with one brief shining moment, that moment is forever enshrined. A pitcher will get endorsements, a parade in his home town, special promotions at the ball park. It has meaning.
Hitters were presumably not on steroids or PEDs from 1890 through, at least, the 1970s. (Other than amphetamines which are likely still in the game.)
I think it's just an insane statistical fluke.
Didn't they take 'greenies' back in the 70's along with cocaine.
I agree though it is likely a statistical outlier.
"Greenies" are the amphetamines I mentioned, but I think they're still in the game. The new testing is for steroids and growth hormones, as far as I know.
I don't think you can pee test for HGH. Only a blood test will show that and no major sports league does blood tests.
