<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Friends say he would end his semiretirement for the right opportunity, for a chance to win a record 10th championship and break a tie with Red Auerbach. But it might not take the lure of a ring to return to the bench. It may only take sentimentality. Given the right circumstances, Jackson would embrace a return to New York to coach the Knicks, the team that drafted him in 1967. And though he is uneasy talking about a job that is currently filled by Lenny Wilkens, Jackson cannot deny the intrigue.
"There's a process teams go through to put themselves in a competitive place," Jackson said in a telephone interview. "And when they get to that position, I felt like if they want me to coach that team, I'd have to listen to them, because of my connections in New York and my connections as a Knick. But I certainly don't want to step in and muddy the water around Lenny Wilkens. He's a great coach. I'm very respectful of him.</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Asked yesterday about Jackson, Wilkens spat, "I couldn't care less what's in the paper about Phil Jackson. Really. That's his thing. I don't worry about stuff like that." When asked if it were against coaching etiquette to address a position that is not vacant, Wilkens said, "Most coaches don't." Jackson has said repeatedly he won't coach this season, so his remarks have no current relevance. But if Wilkens finished out the season and were whacked this summer, certainly Thomas will reach out to the former role player who was a member of the Knicks' two championship teams. Jackson confidants, however, don't think Jackson and Isiah would make a perfect match because of their big egos</div>

Well, quites frankly I would rather have anyone right now then Lenny Wilkens. I see Lenny Wilkens as a mediocre coach but, the way he has been coaching as of late, anyone else deserves a shot at coaching us. That zone on the Mavericks really killed me.
I know Phil Jackson had the privelege of having Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Kobe Bryant, and Shaquile O'neal as players however, I they were not doing much before he got there. Even if he did not have those hall of fame/hall of fame to be players, he still is atleast a decent coach and better than Lenny Wilkens.
If Lenny surprises us and the Knicks end the season on a great positive note due to his coaching then maybe we can think about keeping him. If things don't improve if Phil Jackson is interested we have nothing to lose but, to take a look at things. I am not the greatest fan of the triangle offense but, I heard that Allan Houston fits perfectly with it. I also read something in the paper about LA considering trading Houston for Kobe because of how great a fit he was.
Btw, Happy Holidays you guys at the Knicks board. You have really made me feel welcome. For those who celebrate Hanukkah, I wish you a happy belated one! For those who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas! For those who celebrate Kwanzaa, I wish you a early Happy Kwanzaa. And for those who celebrate other Holidays have a happy one as well!
