Picture the scene: the Blazers have just drafted Greg Oden. You and your buddies are discussing whether or not the Blazers will surpass the Bulls' six titles or just get 4 or 5 in the next decade. Would you want to know the future ahead, or would you rather have that window of hope and happiness?

If I knew the future ahead, could I and the others not have tried to convince them to take Durant?

What do you mean? Are you saying that regardless of knowing, we can't change the decision? Basically knowing that the pick was going to be a bust, but can't change it? Nah, I would rather not know that.

I would prefer that one of my buddies shoots me dead.

I'd want to know ... it would have saved me countless arguments around here about whether or not Oden was ever going to make it.
