Picking myself up, brushing myself off, and enjoying the Blazers

For the past couple weeks, since all seemed to go to hell, I really detached myself from the Blazers cause thinking about all the broken dreams and lost potential was depressing.

But, I'm over all that now. I enjoyed a weeks vacation and feel like everything is back in perspective. Basketball is a game. I love the game and even more, I love my Blazers. So who gives a rat shit in the end if the team is a winner or loser. Sure, winning is fun, but so is just rooting for the pure love of the game. I no longer have great expectations to be dashed. There are no more "must win" games. If the Blazers win 5 in a row, or lose 5 in a row, not much of a difference in the long run, cause there ain't no hope of winning it all or even contending this season.

So I will be turning back to my Blazers, rooting on Batum, Aldridge, Wes, et.al. I will be taking joy in the little things, like a nicely set pick or a well executed defensive rotation. Little moments will keep me rooting for my Blazers. And when, in the future, players heal, or are drafted, or traded for, or whatever, and the team becomes good again, then I will rekindle my dreams.

Go Blazers.

If we lost but played an entertaining brand of basketball I might agree. This team still plays a slow, boring half-court game that isn't very entertaining. Watching League Pass I'm reminded that there's actually teams that look to run. I almost forgot what that looked like after all these seasons of Nateball.

Finally a GOD that says sensible things. That's pretty much my attitude. Life's too short to get too hung up on these things. Basketball is supposed to bring me pleasure and distract me from the shitty things in life.

Best approach: don't watch the fourth quarters. And apart from the Blazers' loss, last night was actually quite cheering: both OKC and the Lakers lost.

(Incidentally, what's up with Indy? Before the season I would've labeled them as one of the sorriest franchises in the NBA - just good enough not to get a franchise player in the draft. But now they're scoring out of their minds and apparently have a high-rated defense. Does Tyler Hansbrough really make a difference?)
