This was about the Habs being tired of PK being PK. Both make similar money, Weber has way more miles on him and is signed until he is 40....AND if he retires early Montreal is stuck with the cap recapture. I think all things being equal Weber is the more valuable player but PK's contract/age is better. I don't think this will turn out that well for Montreal. Based on cap recapture and Weber's age/miles I would rather have Subban. God we saw first hand how good defenseman can literally turn into garbage overnight w all the mileage (see Girardi and Staal). I would rather have 6 more years of 27 year old Subban then 10 more years of 30 year old Weber.

Don't understand the deal. Why didn't they deal Subban for offense? They have spent some high picks on defenseman. 9th overall this year.
