Plan B: If LMA bolts

Plan B is to over pay for a FA PF. Monroe or Love would be options. But no question we would have to pay more than anyone else.

With the potential expiring contracts of Rolo, Wes, LA, AAA, Kaman, Wright, Joel, Gee....that just leaves Dame, CJ, Nic, Blake, Crabbe....that is only 13 million dollars that is tied up.

I would go for Monroe as Leonard can do many of things Love can do. (Not as well, but close enough) but I would still take Love.

I think our chances for Jordan or Gasol are low. Not a Jordan fan for what he would command. Gasol won't come here.

Overpaying for a midtier PF is not a smart idea. But this is all for naught imo. LMA is going to take our contract because (among other reasons) it offers him the most money.

I will go on record as saying I hope LMA stays but since this is a Plan B thread I wonder, one of the concerns with signing Greg Monroe was a lack of defense, does that concern go away if we pair him with Hibbert?

Has Hibbert indicated he is opting out?

Honestly, LMA's only good at defending his man - the team defense of Monroe wouldn't be any worse than LMA's. With a more robust inside presence with Monroe a Monroe/Meyers tandem could be quite nice.
Of course what I'd really like is to pair Meyers with Cousins - that would be formidable at both ends of the floor. Too bad LMA wouldn't agree to a S&T to SAC! Also unfortunate that SAC signed Rudy Gay - trading Nic for Cousins, and then LMA for a SF would be a pretty good move too. But currently there doesn't seem to be any realistic way to trade for Cousins.

Or, we can trade for hibbert as it appears the Pacers will deal him for pennies, and pair him with lma, who in the past was stoked at the possibility of playing with hibbert.

Resigned rolo and afflalo if he opts in for hibbert and scola

Someone who's more familiar with the CBA can correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think you could package multiple players in a S&T. The guy who is S&T'd has to be traded alone - multiple pieces can come back, but additional players can't be added to the S&T'd player. It's entirely possible that I'm completely wrong about this - I don't follow these sorts of rules all that closely anymore.

Pretty sure you're right. The trade would have to wait until like October or something like that.

Then you involve a third team. See isiaiah Thomas trade last year.... Hmm maybe not. Looking at some sign and trade deals last yer it does appear they tried with multiple teams. But I don't know if they were two seperate agreed upon deals or not

I think you guys are right. I was reading the wiki page for transactions wrong. Kinda hard to read.

I do think we could agree to two seperate trades, one involving afflalo, one involving Lopez, but that would entail the Pacers losing lopezs bird rights (with a one year guaranteed, two year non guaranteed deal for a total of three, at around 12 million to get in hibberts ball park. In other words. Unlikely.

If we end up getting Greg Monroe as a replacement for Aldridge, I'm gonna be PISSED.

Looking back at 2013, the bucks signed and traded jj redick to the clippers. The clippers also received Jared Dudley in that deal, so ot appears you can sign and trade with multiple players.

So yeah, I'd love to think about a Lopez and afflalo for scola and hibbert type deal

Another possibility could be a signed and traded Lopez and Kaman, who would offer the Pacers immediate cap relief of up to 4 million, for hibbert

Monroe and Hibbert wold be a nice combo, but Meyers is showing so many signs I wouldn't be opposed to starting him at the 4 or 5 and getting a guy that fits next to him at the other position.

This Blazers team is becoming more Damion's team as time goes on anyway. He already gets more of the spotlight. Maybe it is best if Aldridge and Dame split.

Much to early for that. Should Chris Paul and Blake Griffin already split up?

Is there any way we can get deandre and keep LA and wes?

Roy hibbert does too and shoots 80% from ft land. I believe his fg% would go up, because he wouldn't have to shoot jumpers on our team.

I'm starting to think that we're going to get LA for one more season. He is gonna do the LeBron James deal. 2 year max with player option so he can cash in when the salary cap raises. At that point I'd be hesitant to sign him... I don't wanna pay a 36 year old LA 30+mil.

I'd sign him to the two-year deal as that gives us the ability to trade him to whatever team we want.

LaMarcus seriously needs stop pretending that he's Dirk Nowitski. He does a TERRIBLE impersonation of Dirk. LA has the same skillset as Tim Duncan, and the Blazers would be much better off if he played like Duncan. Duncan will put up a jumper if left open, but he doesn't just force up crap. You've never seen Duncan shoot under 35% in a playoff series.
Wish I could rep this twice.

But in the end, that's on Stotts and his scheme.

It's definitely Stotts that has been using him as Dirk. He came directly from coaching Dirk, and he is implementing many of the same offensive sets as Dallas, so of course he's going to try to make Aldridge into Dirk.

And that was the first strike against Stotts, IMO. I remember reading this when he was preparing his first Training Camp. It was a huge red flag because there are very few similarities between Dirk and LMA other than they both like to shoot jumpers. Stotts' cognitive dissonance is a huge concern and the #1 reason why we need to part ways ASAP.

The fact that anyone could compare the two is beyond comprehension. Dirk is an oddity. He's a legit 7 footer who plays like a guard. He has great handles (of which Aldridge does not). He can pull up off the drive. He can shoot around screens. The guy plays like a guard. Aldridge does not play like a guard. He plays like Garnett or Sheed or Duncan. He has range, but he's more of a spot up shooter from deep.

I used to think LA and Dirk were similar. Dirk is just better (not now but 2-3 seasons ago, yes.) though. He is a once in a generation type player offensively. Not many players can draw fouls, dominate the low post, hit mid range shots with a patented move and hit 3s and a really good percentage.

Well hibbert isn't a FA so until that happens I'm not considering him. I bet LA would love to play with hibbert though, no matter what he says publicly about lopez.
