just acquire them and deal with it later. you have to take gambles. ala scottie pippen.

Portland had a 100 million dollar salary back then, That's not happening now, so how would this Blazer team benefit from that, and who would you target?

Why won't it happen? If a GM convinced paul he could build a team to contend for a title, he'd spend the money. We need to stop this 5 year window bullshit and slow building. win now at all costs by making big multiplayer trades.

Andre Igoudala is who I would target. I think Philly would like to dump his salary and go for their own youth movement, so as long as LA and LIllard are here, go for him.

Iggy would be a minor upgrade in the grand scheme of things, don't you think? Scoring average has gone down every year since 2007-2008

I don't care. he's an allstar and that's good enough for me. I think he'll fit in nicely...great defense, penetrating, will take big shots.

Iggy isn't too far from that Gerald Wallace decline.

No thanks.

well he's probably available now and we have cap space. like i said, just shoot first ask questions later.

One time all star? I'd want more, personally

Well sure you want more. I want Lebron and Paul and Dwight. It's not happening. It might not be a GIANT upgrade, but it's an upgrade. If you can continue to upgrade each position, IMO, you're heading in the right direction.

Harden wont hit FA market, and we would be the last team he will come to

Harden seems to be a (THE) key part of MM's plan.

That is the problem.

As an RFA, there is no way OKC doesn't match a MAX offer for Harden. It only averages $14mil per season.

OKC would have a lot of options for how to deal with this - and NONE of their good options includes letting a big-time talent walk for nothing.

They can sign and trade Harden.

They can match Harden, have a high team salary for one season (but still under the lux tax), then the next year trade one of the big 4 for a cheap, young player.

They can match Harden and trade Westbrook.

They can match Harden and sign and trade Ibaka.

We are not going to get Harden unless we do a sign and trade and include pretty valuable assets going back to OKC. Forget it.

he'll be decent to go up against Durant on the offensive and defensive ends. plus the season after next he's an expiring $15m contract.

So? His stats have been on the steady decline since the 2007-2008 season.

He's a 3rd wheel, maybe 4th, paid like a franchise player.

No way, no how.

there we go with the stats again. fuck the stats. like I said just get the players who are allstars on the roster and deal with it later. he's still a legit #1/#2 option.

Were*

Iggy is not an All-Star these days. He's a good tier below those days.

OMG, PPG is the end all be all!! Stats on the decline!

Last season, of his horrible decline, he posted a PER higher than his career average. He posted an eFG% higher than his career average. Higher TRB%. Higher AST%. Higher steal %. Lower TO%. a 98! defensive rating. The highest win shares per 48 of his career. Highest 3 point % of his career.
But yes, because of the team he is on, and that he now takes less shots, he averages less points. Fuckin' A. He's on the decline I guess. Because of PPG.

Yeah...guys on the decline making their first all star game last year!

{Poasted via palm pilot}

PPG: 19.9 | 18.8 | 17.1 | 14.1 | 12.4
PER: 19.0 | 18.4 | 17.8 | 17.3 | 17.8
Record: 40-42 | 41-41 | 27-55 | 41-41 | 35-31

Since Iggy started his decline (07/08 season) the 6ers have been AT BEST mediocre, but for the most part have been a below average team with Iggy as their 1st/2nd option.

A legit 1st/2nd option? Yeah, on a team that sucks.

Don't care. First tier wing, allstar, all defense second team, only two years on contact.

{Poasted via palm pilot}

can trade expiring contact if it doesn't work after a year and a half.

iggy for free would be pretty amazing, is anyone arguing against that?

A lot of guys as 1st options suck when the team they are on has no other good players.

Kobe had 3 years in a row, in his prime, where his team couldn't get over 45 wins. Because Shaq left. Odom was the second best player. Would that make him at that time only a 1st option on a team that sucks? Or do you recognize how important a good team is.
Dwyane Wade, same thing. Until, wow, he got good players back on his team. Go figure.

Yeah, because we all know what a powerhouse the top-heavy East is.

shitty teams tend to do shitty, regardless of the top player. Put shit around some of the best(Wade, Kobe) and you get shitty results.

We loaded up on contracts in the late 90s and where did it get us..... nowhere. We had a whole team of second or third options, but not a single first option, which would be the case if we added Iggy and re-signed Batum. We need a Kobe, a Durant, a LeBron. We don't need a Rasheed, a Steve Smith, or a Scottie Pippen (although Pippen would be nice).

we got to the WCFs twice. that's not bad. we were nba championship contenders for several years. I'm assuming if we added Iggy we S&T Batum or use him to acquire him somehow. don't need both of them.

WCF is nice and everything, but this league is dominated by closers. Brandon Roy was a closer. We need a closer.

Igoudala can close and take those shots.

BRoy the closer got us first round and out. He's a nice kid but those teams that got to the WCF were infinitly more balanced and full of vets.
