OT Play by play guy suspended for "racist language"

Welcome to our community

This shit should be easy.

It's 2019 and MFs are still wearing blackface and calling us monkeys and apes.

Then on top of it, we got motherfuckers justifying the shit.

Being a hyper sensitive group of fascists only works with the dying majority of whites. From my years and years of daily interactions with hispanics things are going to get worse for you in the future.

You CLEARLY don't know what a fucking fascist is.

More white deniers and justifiers of racism.

That's exactly what put the racist in chief in office.

MFs wonder why the country is so divided while they're in the middle of dividing it.

Why is simply respecting one another so fucking hard?

That's how the term PC was invented. MFs mad because they can't say racist, homophobic shit anymore.

No. His manager and agent gave him the name. I watched his bio

Gave him. Did he call himself that afterward? Yes that's my point. He has a privilege not afforded to us.

Besides, we don't call each other monkeys or apes. :dunno:

I see both sides of yall argument. Calling MM racist is ridiculous. MFers need to stop slapping the racist tag on someone just for different views on the intent of someone else's words.

When did I do this?

I didn't even fucking insinuate that.

It's just so different. He didn't call him an ape or a monkey. He referred to his dominance by saying he was King Kong at the end of a game.

Stop justifying it.

Not sure why you keep trying to explain the context to me when it does not matter.

Hard and fast rule:

No monkey or ape references.

Figure. It. Out. And. Tell. Your. Friends.

That's stupid. So, if a 6 year old black child is swinging around on the monkey bars, are they just bars until he or she leaves?

Don't say silly, meaningless things. You're also comparing apples to oranges.

You can refer to the inanimate objects in any way you please.

Humans who have been called ape, monkey, and coon as a pejorative....

Yeah... How bout no... :dunno:

Yeah... Why am I having to explain this in 2019?

Ugh... This shit is tiring....

:hairout:

You're right about those words, and if someone uses one of them it's wrong. He didn't

Obviously I understand what he's saying, but I don't like when people talk in generalizations. Call it a pet peeve, or whatever you want. I don't understand why disliking when people talk in generalizations about other groups is such a bad thing, but I digress.
I really hate generalizations as well. In fact I think it was Dviss' generation that taught our generation to not generalize.
When I first joined this site I used to get upset @dviss1 as well for generalizing. It came to the point that I put him on ignore. Then I left the site(Not because of Dviss, but because of school requirements)
When I came back I learned that unfortunately I can't change his words or how he views the world. That's fine we can view it different and still respect and appreciate one another. @dviss1 has actually helped me understand a few things with my sidejob via DM. He's also shown on the forum as well as in person he's someone who deserves my respect. Therefore he's earned it and nothing can change that.
I can only choose to understand that he doesn't mean ME when he generalizes. It still grates on my nerves but my response is to understand and ignore the frustration it gives me. While also understanding the he feels similar frustrations when someone is being racist. Or using racist terms.

I'd love to have you give me a few examples of me "bullying" people.
I have you on ignore and that won't change but I can give you an example of you bullying which directly led to mods dm'ing you telling you to stop.
But once again just like last time you'll deny it only for a mod to then be forced to come in and confirm it. Then you'll go MIA and never respond to said mod.
That's just who you are.
I don't await your response, in fact I won't see it.
Have a nice life.

I mean I get it. Just wish he'd give me more respect since he knows me... It's not a matter of what I think he means. I know he doesn't mean it as a generalization.

If you're not doing the things I'm saying, why do you take offense?

I'm obviously not talking to or about you.

Matter of fact I'm SURE you know a few people like I've described.

Get mad at them not the guy who has to deal with them.

Funny thing is, in regards to me, you do this shit more than I do it to you. Yet you complain about it at the same time. You're guilty of all of this, yet act like your above it. Guess where I got some of this from?

Thing is, I have a point based on how I view things, you troll for fun. Also if you're trying to ignore my posts, theres a feature that helps with that. Trust me, my feelings wont be hurt. Have a good night.

Some people simply cant own up to their own shit stinking at times. Some people shit roses and fart strawberries man.

Don't you think context has anything to do with it?
I think it has EVERYTHING to do with it.

A basketball announcer saying a dominant inside player was like King Kong at the end of a game is COMPLETELY different than some piece of shit saying Michelle Obama looks like an ape in shoes.

How about when describing a Black person? Mind you, that White supremacists have effectively usurped the meaning, at least for a Black person who has to adjust to being called a monkey or some sort of dog whistle. Not saying that decent White folk don't mean anything ill willed about the expression King Kong, just saying try to have some empathy for a human being being derided here and there all of their life. Just out of empathy, how about using some other expression like 'enforcer' or big man in the middle?

And i think here in lies the argument.

Great post and suggestion by the way.

But that should also be a suggestion and warning to the announcer. Not just a firing, no?

Empthy is great. We must understand aNd emphasize with the other side even if we dont agree. Its the start to a calmer, less violent civilization and debate.
However it should not be such a forfront thought that people can't develop personalities and stunt creativity for fear of saying the wrong thing.
If an announcer has a history of repeated offenses, then there is motive for questioning.
But sometimes trying to be creative and quick of the tongue, empathy isnt the first thought, or the thought that comes prior to making the quick, timely statement.
When given time to think and empathize, sure. But in the heat of the moment, basketball frenzy, i would give a pass and a suggestion to try to be more aware of the potential misunderstanding that could ensue rather than just fire him.

Question. There are albino monkeys. How do they fit in to all of this?

My opinion is calling a human king kong is different than calling them an ape or a monkey.

One is a ficticious character known round the world as being a beast.

The other is a primate.
I see a clear difference.

With that said, i will never refer to a Black human as king kong, as it is obviously an issue...

Respect whether you agree or disagreee...

Totally agree...
I don't like to see anyone disrespected for race, religion or politics.
