That's what I'm hoping for. It would be really nice to get that marquee wing back. I just don't see one available. I mean there aren't too many star guards out there. There is a reason why we can argue Wes being a top 10 guard in the league right now. There really aren't great guards after kobe, the beard and Wade

Guess who our marquee wing is? Damian Lillard.

The dude might not have the prototypical size of a 2, but he's the same height as Eric Gordon and is an awesome shooting guard. Fortunately for us he's also a great point guard and that gives us a loooot of flexibility on offense.

I know , but to me it is kind of like summer league, too many odd combinations on the floor and too early in the season playing with new players to be close to being meaningful......IMO.

Also, normalized stats are kinda useless under 1000 minutes played. Players can't even get to a third of that in in pre-season.

I'm thinking we may see a lot of Lillard + Veteran Point Guard Du Jour on our team over the next 4-5 years, and we'll be quite successful with that. Imagine him and Andre Miller together... :sigh:

Stotts seems to favor Mo and Lillard down the stretch over Lillard and Wes.

I would too; Mo and Lillard are both superior ball handlers, more dynamic shooters, and better at setting up other players. Why not have your best out there in crunch time? It's the Jason Terry scenario.

Funny thing about Mo, the last few games I've felt like he wasn't doing that well, and then I look up and he has 17 points. He was 5-13 last night, which isn't great, but we need that offensive punch off the bench. He and Wright are going to make a huge difference this year.

Im sure its hard to tell just in pre-season so far but we really do need that volume shooter off the bench that Mo brings to the team. A guy who can create a little and who isnt afraid to shoot. At the same time I havent yet had that "Crawford" moment where I felt like I was yelling at Mo and thinking, "Why the hell would you take that shot?!?!?"

I agree. I think his shots have been in the flow of the offense, they just haven't been falling for him.

Mo Williams is just like Jamal Crawford and that's ok! We need a gunner off the bench. I'm sure you'll see quite often some questionable shots down the stretch of games, but that's his style.

Sent from my baller ass iPhone 5 FAMS!

Yeah i actually like his style. He's a less offensively potent J-Crossover but he's also way lower risk to the flow of our offense. Mo can't really shoot us out of games cuz of his playmaking skills, Crawford can.

I'm not really too worried about Mo. He's a veteran in this league and he knows what he's doing. He's been rackin up a shitload of turnovers and not shootin that well, but it's all good. He hasn't played much with these guys so I think he's just gettin a feel for his teammates while getting into game shape. Come regular season he'll be fine. 15 pts off the bench

He shot 54.3% from the field (True Shooting Percentage) which is excellent. On the shots he was going to make they fouled him and he made the free throws.

So I'm curious, how does Lillard get his PER up from last year? He seems to be focusing more on scoring this preseason, but I was hoping he'd get his assists up.

This was the PER last year for our 8 man rotation:

Lopez: 18.9
Batum: 15.7
Lillard: 16.4
LMA: 20.4
Matthews: 14.1
Wright: 16.0
Williams: 14.4
Robinson: 10.9

4 games in
Lopez: 9.1
Batum: 16.5
Lillard: 27.0
LMA: 24.5
Matthews: 21.1
Wright: 19.9
Williams: 6.2
Robinson: 9.7

Funny how Batum is always labeled as inconsistent, but even in this ridiculously small sample size he's still right in his normal PER range.

You would think a guy who is dropping triple doubles would have a higher PER.

High variance in performance ... which is right in his normal range for his career.

Yeah that is pretty surprising, a triple double and averaging double figure rebounds but only 16.5 PER. Hickson had a PER of 19.7 last year.

His first game was a pile of poo.

I think he'll regress to his mean, so probably 14 or 15, but I doubt he's anywhere close to his mark last year.

Probably; there's only 2 games in his sample, and one of them was spazzing out against LMA.
