Thought this might become a fun thread......

Me first:

Elliot Williams: Chilling here at cpk [California Pizza Kitchen] with @Nolan Smith wondering what should I order... about 35 minutes ago

This is why I think Twitter is a joke...

I saw Nolan Smith at Fire on the Mountain on Interstate last week. Getting his grub on.

Looks like someone just discovered what twitter is.

New Fire on the Mountain....... 1 block from my house= HCP "MEAT & GREET"!

Elliot Williams: Me and @Nolan Smith back on the town again... This time buffalo wild wings downtown lol 4 minutes ago

I disagree. I already question how we functioned without it. If you follow the right people, it's a steady stream of up to the minute news in the areas of your choice. During the free agent signing period, it was the quickest and easiest way to find out what was happening up to the minute. When any news of any kind breaks, you find out right away and you get people's opinions on it easily. Finally, career wise, it helps. When I put on my cabaret show next year, I only have to mention it on Twitter and instantly, 27,000 people know about it. I can update them on my career and life very easily and my tweets get picked up in articles sometimes so it's easy and free publicity.

Eric, I want to stalk you, what is your twitter name?

My favorite tweet from last year:

THE_REAL_SHAQ "Just got a fresh cut for da game, dam I'm sugly, dats sexy and ugly mixed in one"

Dude, I don't give a SHIT about where players are eating and what they're ordering for lunch. Who gives a fuck about what they're doing every hour of the day? It's ridiculous in my opinion. It promotes narcissism.

it's your opinion that without twitter, players won't be narcissistic?

I'd surmise (since I don't generally twitter a lot) that each one of Eric's 27k followers cares enough about where he eats, where his cabaret is, etc. to make it worth his while to keep updating. Shaq's known for tweeting where he's eating and buying meals for people who show up.

Yeah, I'm with Brian on this one--players were narcissistic long before Twitter, and I seriously doubt it's making them any worse. However, it's enjoyable for those who like the little pointless insights into their favorite player's/celebrity's daily life, and it's harmless to those who are uninterested.

Goggles boy sez:

Rudy Fernandez: Thanks all the pdx fans!! Good luck this season!!

I got into twitter during the trade deadline last season and haven't looked back. I love getting the up to the minute updates or rumors around the league. It does get annoying with the players telling you what they are doing every second, but I just blow by those.

You didn't read anything I wrote. I said it was good for following the news and for self promotion for my career. I didn't say anything about following what people eat.

Apparently you didn't read what I wrote as I was responding to ABM's post of a tweet talking about being at California Pizza Kitchen. Who cares?

I was stoked. I actually drove down there, hunted down Elliot and told him that I had read his tweet. They laughed and bought me some pizza. Couldn't believe it.
