That was awesome.

I still remember the game he dropped 47 on Melo and the next day in the O, Quick had this whole piece on how "THE PUNISHER" was about to break out. Paul Allen loved his game. Maybe too much. He'd be a monster in the current NBA.

Someone who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn past 12 feet would not be a monster in the current NBA.

I searched and searched for that Darius Miles Punisher Meme a couple years ago. Couldn't find it. Anyone got that?

No he wouldn't. Draymond can actually hit 3 pointers

Dryamond shot 33% last year on only 2 attempts a game and is at 21% this year. Outside of the one season where he shot 39, he is a terrible shooter.

Cleveland used to start DMiles at point until Lebron showed up. What exactly is Ben Simmons? A guy with his handle and athleticism and versatility to essentially play 1-5 would be invaluable today, when the league isn't defined by positions and pace is so fast.

Darius's best year was shooting like 20%.

And he is not, nor was he ever, anything like Ben Simmons.

That was a good read. Well written. Almost felt like I was reading a novel. Glad he is doing good. Was going to make a joke about him almost not being a Blazer, but I don't want Mama Ethel coming up out the grave to get her guns and her posse after me.

35.

This is like watching a skinny Giannis.

Todays word is: Sample size....did shoot 35% for a season.

But he shot 23 three pointers that year. For his career he shot 131 three pointers.

Not made. SHOT. He MADE 22. Total.

So like I said, he wasn't a good shooter, and he wouldn't be a monster in the NBA today.

I loved the story of Mama Ethel having his back. I'm gonna be referencing that for a while.

Most interesting line in that story to me..."People used to stop selling drugs for two hours just to come see me play," Says so much about so much.

Good read.

Gives me some perspective on his life and where he came from and more importantly what he went through. He seemed like a thug to me but he had a high flying game and was getting a lot of air time. I had his jersey and I didn't have anybody's jersey. Ever since then I have been hesitant to buy another jersey because his rep was so bad you couldn't wear it without hearing crap from somebody. My wife use to say " You bought that guys Jersey, of all the player's on the team, that's what you chose! Damn!" I can remember him getting booed hard as a Blazer.... in our arena. I couldn't give that jersey away.

I hope he's doing well. The article sheds some light on what he went through and I'm glad I read it.

Good, authentic and well written. I wish I liked Player's Only more. But I find so much of their stuff, hit and miss. Thought Darius' tales about Shaq were cute. He seems like a guy whö would do tha stuff.

It's like the entire league is unaware of what D Groin wants to do on offense and guards him wrong. They give him space up top when he only wants to do one of two things: pass or shoot a 3 from as straight on as possible. He absolutely does not want to drive, and if he does, his first second and third option is to pass (usually a lob), making him a minimal threat as a shooter. He doesn't even finish particularly well at the rim.

Play him tight at the arc and stay up on slashers if he does go around you. Pretty simple.

I remember watching his rehab videos on the team's site in freshman year of high school bragging to my friends he'd be back and 100%, oops.

Nice piece. Dude was the most talented player on that mid 2000's Blazer team, just didn't want it badly enough. Glad to see he's doing better and still buddies with Qrich.

i think the part that ultimately hurt DM the most was missing out on the structure and growth phase of a couple of years of college life and ball.

i get the whole money lure thing, but im thinking development as a person and player.

I always liked DM and im glad to see that he's in a good place these days.

Only one thing in Mile's life is relevant to me - his fake comeback from injury retirement just to screw the Blazers.

Unless he is living in a cardboard box under a freeway and wasting away from drugs and assorted vile diseases, I don't want to hear about him.

That's just sad. As much as I love the Blazers, I would never wish that kind of misfortune on anyone simply for harming a sports franchise.

Another reason to hate Danny Ainge and (ultimately, Chris Wallace/Jerry West). It's the Celtics and Grizz who were most salty about missing out on Oden/Durant in the lottery and did whatever they could to screw us over.
