Just curious why you guys who keep saying if we had Nurk we would have won? I'm not sure he would have helped stop KD tonight. Or do you think our guards will put up those kind of numbers again and he would be just enough more offense to win? I think the Ws defense is what beat us tonight. Not sure Nurk could have changed that.
And you consider yourself some sort of basketball guru.

The Warriors feasted at the rim tonight without our big man to anchor the paint. No need to mention how he would help take pressure off the guards in the p&r, everyone should know that.

Learn the game then post, FAMS.

Great effort. Really proud of CJ and Dame as they did everything they could and were still fighting until the end. We are playing a better team. The reason Green is getting blocks like he did on Dame is because they aren't worried about our others, our others aren't consistently making them pay from the outside, and they aren't cutting to the right spot to prevent green/McGee from coming over to help either. Turner played a decent game, but for the most part they look like a deeper, better team with more versatility. Keep fighting and hope we can steal some of these at the end.

I mean... it would have been nice to have someone that could finish those bunnies we kept missing right at the rim and to help contest some of the wide open layups on the other end.

This. Nurk would not have made that much of a difference. If anything, with his foul history, he'd be getting 5 fouls by the 4th trying to block Durant when he drives to the rim.

And by the way...we're not getting Nurk back until at least game 3. And he'll be very rusty. You better make peace with that.

I love this team. But it is extremely hard for 2 players to carry it through 7 games, when the other team has 5 guys (KD, SC, DG, Clay and Iggy) who produce whatever their team needs.
No, I'm not giving up yet. But our other guys need to show up in a big way. I don't know what it is. But they need to show up either on D, on the boards, on blocks or just knock down shots or all of it combined.

I think our guards had an above-average (NOT spectacular) night tonight. They take 54 shots, they'll keep scoring 75, if not more, especially if they keep attacking the paint.
Nurk getting 20 shots instead of Mo/Aminu/Vonleh is going to be more efficient and wear out the W's D.
The number of cheapies and O-reb W's get will go down.

THat's why. Maybe I'm way off.

So what if he's rusty? He's not shooting from 23'. He's dunking on P&R's and getting rebounds. He may be winded quickly, but what part of his game do you think will suffer from rust?

I think people forget that Nurk was "rusty" when he got here. He was barely playing for Denver.

His post game smack talk after a big victory.

lmao...really? I mean...really? You don't think his rust is going to play a big part against a fast team like GS?

Really?

LMAO.

Even though we lost, I'm glad I got up early to watch this. We started with intensity, fought hard, and didn't quit. CJ, and Dame were fun to watch, and Turner had a very solid game. I liked the amount of effort we gave on defence. Our lack of a rim protecting big on help D was noticeable. Our offence was iso heavy, and fell apart when they locked down on Dame, and CJ.

Lillard and McCollum totaled 75 points, two shy of team playoff record by teammates (77 - Aldridge/Lillard-4/20/14; Drexler/Porter-5/19/92).

Green wouldnt have had the night he did

Did pretty well for 3 quarters and then it went downhill. Have to get Dame and CJ sone help this offseason.

Dame didn't show up for Dame time

Rust?
After playing 39 minutes in 2 weeks, he got traded to POR and went 5-5 (3-4FT) for 13pts in 21 minutes.
Then after a week and change off for the all-star break, he went 6-12 for 12pt/12reb in 34 min.

I'm ok with some NurkRust.

You're simply not going to beat a deep team like the Warriors when Evan Turner makes as many swish3s as Harkless, Aminu, Crabbe and Leonard combined.

Some guys need to step up and earn their ridiculous paychecks.

Oh yeah, and on a broken leg he went 33/15 and 19/11. Yep, I'm fine with injured Nurk Rust.

I'm a simple man.

I see siwsh3s, I "like."

I just got word that my father and I are going to game 4. Awesome. Hopefully, the season isn't over after that.

This. We talked a lot about guys earning those checks in the regular season, but the playoffs is where they really prove their worth.

There are a couple of reasons that I'm skeptical that Nurkic would have changed the Blazers' fortunes against the Blazers:

1. He's always has a huge turnover rate. He did in Denver, he's continued that in Portland. "Feeding" Nurkic, especially against Golden State's active defense, would likely lead to a lot of turnovers and that means more fast break opportunities for the Warriors, which fuels their attack. And Nurkic isn't an unstoppable force in the post--his scoring efficiency has risen in Portland, but it's still only middling (it was awful in Denver). I don't see Nurkic really making a big difference on the offensive end.

2. Fouls. On the defensive end, he could make an impact, sure. He's a strong contest at the rim. He's also foul-prone. So maybe he contests more of those layups, but he also racks up the fouls, putting the Blazers in the penalty faster and sitting with fouls a lot, mitigating his defensive value.

I like Nurkic's potential long-term, but right now he's not a game-changer that would elevate the Blazers anywhere near the Warriors' level, let alone past them. At least in my opinion. And that's a fully healthy Nurkic who hasn't been sitting 2-3 weeks. If he has any amount of rust or lack of conditioning, his value in this series would be even lower.
