i really dont undestand how people say stupid things so easily like its a fact

you cant say jokic scored 34 & 38 on nurkic, when thats clearly not the case, jokic scored 34 & 38 on the blazers, but he scored 16 & 13 on nurkic, 12/23 for total 29 pts on 52.2% efficiency

nurk won their matchup in the game 1, jokic won their matchup in the game 2, well see how the rest of the series goes, but as of now, if you consider that jokic is extremely good offensive player, top 10 player in the nba and most likely mvp, those stats look like nurk is doing really solid job on jokic... for gods sake, you cant shut down a player like jokic for the entire series, maybe you can do it for a game or two or three, like nurk did in game 1, but he will bust your ass too, but that being said, i would like to see hows nurk doing against rest of the nuggets team, but i dont know where to find it, so if someone could do it, id appreciate it

when it comes to offensive end, its the coaching thats the problem, not nurk, were not using him like we should, were not playing enough pnr, were not posting him up, were not giving him the ball at high post to make plays, were using him to set screens and thats the main thing hes doing... what the fuck people want from nurk, when the guy doesnt have possessions, when he doesnt have ball in his hands... its kinda difficult to make an impact on the offensive end, if youre not touching the ball enough

if you want more from nurk on the offensive end, then you need to use him more, use him as one of your main scorers and not as a role player
I 2 times last Night Dame totally miss Nurk on a PNR back to back possission you have Nurk involved when he out there or he doesn't perform like he should. Dame must get him going because enthusiastic Nurk is a very good player.

If we're cool with Nurk's lack of mobility because he is a true big then there aren't any other fatal flaws with his game. The guy gets up and finishes with authority just fine when he wants to. So you don't have to go out and look for another C. You have to get a coach that will not put up with him finishing weak in the paint ever let alone most of the time, a coach that doesn't think the term accountability is outdated. You also need a coach that realizes how much better the guy is when he is engaged in facilitating the offense and doesn't go away from that a game after having great success with it.

In other words you don't give up on Nurk, you move on from Stotts.
it absolutely baffles me that he doesnt know how to use nurk

nurk is the fucking player that can be a difference maker if you know how to use him, but using him as a role player aint gonna do it

I just really need to know who gets credit for wins and blame for losses. There needs to be some sort of consistency here FAMS!

What about the 10 of 12 before that?
also anomaly, theres no consistency at all, they cant put consistent effort and consistently share the ball, move their bodies etc, theres always one period when they do and then they give up on that

go look at how utah jazz and phoenix suns play, one can wish blazers play like that too

If someone gets credit for winning why do they have to automatically get blamed for losing too? Or vice versa? Strange logic.

It's not really. If you don't think he had an effect on the great performance in Game 1, seems odd to then place all the blame for the bad performance in Game 2 on him.

Didnt place all the blame on him, but you do realize he can coach medciore when we win, and he can coach bad when we lose, right? Am I supposed to give him credit for being mediocre in order to acknowledge that he coached poorly in Game 2? How exactly does this work?

Good point. I didn't even realize Powell was in foul trouble.
Powell had 3 in the first quarter but ended with 3. Stotts went to DJJ in the second quarter. Of course they blew us out then but don't look at +- because it will say something different. Hate that stat.
CJ ended with 5
Melo with 5
Nurk 6
Funny thing is RoCo didn't really get in foul trouble?

With foul trouble like that it's tough to play good defense...

What I don't want to see is another example of Denver playing harder and with more urgency than the Blazers. They are down 2 of their top 4 scorers. We have the better players but they played like the better team in Game 2
@BonesJones and @hoopsjock were killin Stotts' presser last night. Urgency you say? "UH i didn't SAY THAT."

This whole segment is good:

...was Evanem that "brand" marketing guy that stole other peoples designs and sold them on $40 t-shirts? :dunno:

I don't know about that. He did give a t-shirt away in the forum a few years back.

I'm not really sure that Stotts should make many adjustments. 21 turnovers was extremely uncharacteristic of this team--we lead the league in fewest per game. It got the team completely out of its normal offensive rhythm, and it led to a lot of easy baskets for the Nugs. The teams had similar rebounding and EFG% numbers--we just gave them the ball an extra 11 times.

If Stotts starts changing lineups significantly or running new plays, it's more likely that turnovers continue to be a problem as guys are playing outside what they are used to. Worse, it'll feel like a panic move.

One change I would consider is swapping out Kanter for Hollis-Jefferson when Jokic sits. I prefer Kanter's sizes in being physical with Jokic when Nurk needs a blow, but Kanter is flat out terrible when there is no center for him to guard. This is a pretty minor adjustment though. (Kanter is a regular season backup center. Somebody who beasts on a random Tuesday night when the other team is on a back-to-back. He is not somebody you want the other team to significantly game plan for because of all his defensive woes.)

Sure, pull CJ and Roco especially aside and point out the 9 turnovers they had between them. Throw Jones in again if we're getting killed by their size. Give RHJ all the small-ball center minutes.

But basically play the team that got you here, and play the way they're used to.

The sad thing is that it wasn't out of character for this team for a playoff game. Stagnant, low ball-movement offense doesnt succeed in the playoffs. It's not a surprise that we had 15 less turnovers in Game 1 when we moved the ball well.
