See, I would be happy with Wiggins or Gordon for him if we were able to also re-sign Norm and let him play at his natural position.
I do think that it might be smart to start realizing that different GMs may see things your way and a small group might see things the way of the others you were talking about do. So maybe there will be an opportunity to trade CJ to a team that has high value for him and flip what we get from them in a three team deal for a real second option. Who knows though. None of us have ever had the opportunity to gauge his trade value and I don't think our front office has ever really delved too deeply into it either.
Yeah, that cap number has to stick in the throat of most GMs but I just have a feeling that there are a few out there that see his inconsistency as being a result of playing with a better version of himself whose redundant skill set is what causes CJ to be so inconsistent. Those GMs could point to his very consistent play when Dame has been out to support that line of thinking. If your theory is right I would be excited and upset at the same time. If CJ has high value, we're crazy for having not traded him, but I'd be pump that we still have a chance to get something of value in return.
CJ is a bucket getter, and I fully expect a great game 4 from him. However, if you're an inconsistent bucket getter and a consistent bucket giver-upper, you can't take up 30% of the salary cap.
Even if you are Neil and think Simons is the absolute shit... why the fuck wouldn't we pick up Rivers instead of TJ fucking Leaf?!?Man we need to talk about how useless Simons is.. Why the fuck did we not sign Rivers when he got waived?

If Neil stays you can just be upset and upset at the same time because, I really don't think that Neil will ever trade CJ for something of realistic return value and we're not getting an all-nba player for Mr. McCollum.
This is the problem. We might be able to get a really solid starter, maybe even a not so spectacular second option for CJ but I doubt that would ever be enough for Neil. The good news about a trade is that it only takes one GM to totally overvalue CJ in order to get a great trade. Sadly, I'm not sure even 1 out of the 29 other GMs think he's worth what Olshey does.

I really have only heard of two teams that like him and don't know if Philly still does and that would just leave the Knicks who aren't looking for a youth movement and he would pair great with Randle. They have a ton of picks and they have Toppin who really isn't a good fit with Randle unless they play 4 and 5 together and that's some small ball. So right now all of my theoretical CJ moves go through the Knicks giving us what a rebuilding team would want and us finding a rebuilding team with what we want.I'm trying to think of what type of team would want him. He's getting a bit long in the tooth for someone trying to do a total rebuild, but a team needing one more scorer probably isn't going to give us anything but future assests and a salary to match. If we were rebuilding w/out Dame, I think we'd have options, but that would be a stupid strategy in my opinion.
I could set that up....... i would REALLY love to be there as well.I would love to have a talk with kanter and explain to him that he is worse defensive player in history. And ask him where is his pride?
Say the Knicks offer Quickley and 4 1s for Dame, would you consider it? Not saying I would just curious.
I think the plan of letting Jokic go apeshit is a bad one. I don’t think that plan took a lot of thought.
Nothing CLOSE? He’s the same guy.Jokic was nothing close to what he is now at that time. So comparing the two series is a bit ridiculous.
When I've looked at rosters team by team, the NYK are the only ones I see that could have enough interest to give up value.I really have only heard of two teams that like him and don't know if Philly still does and that would just leave the Knicks who aren't looking for a youth movement and he would pair great with Randle. This is all a little premature. Let's just tough out the rest of these playoffs... maybe only two more games and then dream about splitting up Dame and CJ.
They could really use Jamal Murray and Will Barton. But they're winning in spite of their injuries. We could really use Zach Collins in this series.
Bruh you really think a coach can just say "I want them" and a GM can AUTOMATICALLY make it happen?! Shit doesn't work like that bro. Olshey and Stotts work together but you can't just snap your fingers and get whoever you want.I didn't realize that's how it works in Europe and it's an interesting concept. I would love to see the GM work for the coach instead of the other way around.
Nothing CLOSE? He’s the same guy.
Its there, however, you have two ball dominate guards that do their own thing's. Powell didn't get that many touches because the ball doesn't come to him like it should. Just my opinion. We need to set him up for that, but i don't think that play is in our playbook.
this fucking team is all talk, no action, he said its gonna be different, but it was the same fucking shit
(this was after game 2)
I would think New Orleans would like him. They have a PG, a SF, Zion and a couple decent centers. They need a good scoring guard. Adding CJ should get them into the playoffs.I really have only heard of two teams that like him and don't know if Philly still does and that would just leave the Knicks who aren't looking for a youth movement and he would pair great with Randle. You thought we were a “good” team? You thought our defense would get BETTER coming into this series? No wonder you’re always pissed off on here everyday.A good team finds ways to win when the shots aren't falling, they do it on the other side, with defense, we let scrubs like Rivers and Campazzo beat us, think about it, we cant beat a fucking Campazzo/Rivers backcourt. We are pathetic on defense
