PLAYOFF SERIES NOTES

• This is the second meeting between the Trail Blazers and Warriors in the NBA Playoffs. Golden State defeated the Trail Blazers last year, 3-1, in the Western Conference Semifinals.

• LAST MEETING: Stephen Curry scored 34 points to lead all scorers and the Warriors defeated the Trail Blazers, 119-113, at the Moda Center. CJ McCollum scored 32 points to lead Portland and Damian Lillard added 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jusuf Nurkic returned to action for Portland, while Golden State was without Kevin Durant and head coach Steve Kerr.

• Since Portland became a franchise in 1970, Portland has made the playoffs 33 times, while Golden State has qualified 17 times. The two teams have both reached the playoffs in all 17 of those seasons.

• Despite losing the 2016 Western Conference Semifinals, 4-1, the Trail Blazers led for 137 of the 232 minutes played in the series.

• Damian Lillard averaged 31.8 points (43.1% 3-PT) and 7.6 assists against the Warriors in the 2016 Western Conference Semifinals. Lillard recorded two games of 30+ points and 10+ assists, and his 40 points in the Trail Blazers’ lone victory represents his playoff career high.

• Oakland native Damian Lillard has recorded six of his 13 highest scoring playoff performances (27 games) against the Warriors, including his two highest scoring postseason games. Two of Lillard’s three highest postseason assist totals have also come against Golden State.

CONNECTIONS
• Warriors head coach Steve Kerr played one season for the Trail Blazers during the 2001-02 campaign. Kerr averaged 4.1 points and 1.0 assists in 65 games as a Trail Blazer.

• Warriors guard Klay Thompson is the son of former Trail Blazer Mychal Thompson, who the Trail Blazers selected first overall in the 1978 NBA Draft. Thompson played seven years in Portland (1978-86).

No but two teams came close. 1994 Nuggets, who rallied from 0-2 in first round best of 5," rallied from 0-3 down to the Utah Jazz in second round to tie the series 3-3. And the 2003 Trail Blazers rallied from 0-3 to the Dallas Mavericks to force Game 7 and a had a lead in the fourth quarter. And that Dallas team was good (Dirk, Nash, Finley, Van Exel). They ultimately made the WCF, then lost Dirk to injury and still almost made the NBA Finals were it not for Steve Kerr's clutch shooting for the Spurs in Game 6.

Yes, I said GS in 4. But seeing first hand, it's staggering.

Games 1 and 3, Dame and CJ both had amazing games and we weren't close to winning. And Steph/Klay have been pretty weak too.

That's where the whole 'Lottery vs Draft' discussion came from. Portland was playing horrible. Then Nurkic came and they played better but it was still a #1/#8 matchup against one of the better #1 seeds in league history....not sure what the point was. I think the Nurkic Effect helped hide how poorly this roster was playing but it wasn't going to change the inevitable.

This roster needs all the help it can get and a Lottery pick (especially when it was down in the #8/9 range) was going to do more for this franchise than getting swept by the Warriors. This is nothing new.

My point was about GS being REALLY good, not how poor our roster is. I don't see any team giving them more than 1 loss in each of their series.
