Game Thread PLAYOFFS - ROUND 2, GAME 1: Blazers @ Warriors - 5/1/16, Sunday, 12:30 (PDT), ABC

You like slow music, except that Amos Moses is fast. I like quickness, some jerky beat that makes you get up and jump around. But it also must have a good tune. They don't write them like anymore.
Some of us are trying to keep it alive.

Well that wasn't an ideal score to see. But if there is anything to take from this is that we got blown out first two games against the no good clippers and still won the series! So there is that.
And the clippers beat us even worse. I think game 2 will be a revelation.

Implicitly applying a quote from a Beatles fan to all "respected musicologists" is first of all pretty silly. Second of all, trying to support an opinion on the quality of art by saying "respected experts say it's great!" is pretty much what people who don't understand art do.

To be fair to you, though, the Beatles' music isn't art.
Respected musicologists say "bite me".

CJ on Klay isn't fair. On Klay's worst day CJ couldn't check him.

Move CJ to Barnes. This makes the most sense as Barnes can't create his own shot and isn't nearly as aggressive as Klay.

Move Mo on Klay full time.

Hey. I don't hate their music. "Songs From The Big Chair" is great. I love the Smiths as well. But if you were a little kid and you were constantly exposed to their fans (older brothers and sisters) they weren't cool. It's the reason kids of my generation plugged a cheap Japanese- made guitar into a Marshall Stack with a Big Muff and invented Grunge. Your rebelling against what came before.

While simultaneously copying what came before that...

Don't forget that Nirvana ripped off the Pixies, who covered the Jesus and Mary Chain, who loved the Sex Pistols, who loved the Stooges. And so it goes.

Agreed. This is the Spurs strategy: they hid Parker on Barnes in Barnes's rookie year and Warriors fans got all excited about his "great playoffs" and ignored the fact that the Spurs wiped the floor with them.

As a confirmed Leonard-hater I am disturbed to find myself thinking, for the second series in a row, that he might come in handy. Bogut was causing us a lot of problems and it would be nice to pull him out of the lane. Plus, then you can play Ed Davis more - he was our biggest positive (per minute) in this first game.

It's tougher in our case.

Here you need to hide CJ and Dame. Especially Dame - his defense has been putrid since the playoffs began.

Pretty ridiculous the league spotted GS one free game by giving us zero time to rest, regroup, or prepare. Sure GS may have won anyway but the league felt they had to make sure of it for some reason.

I think the hair styles were more of an era effect.
This must be how you listen:

I love conspiracy theories, but, what they care most about is money. They want as many weekend games as possible. More viewers equals more money.

Schedule was pre-determined. Golden State got more rest because their series went shorter.

So if we'd lost game 6 and won game 7 we'd have had two games today? That's not even fair. ;)

Hah. No, I meant the series starts, based on series length contingencies, were pre-determined. If Portland had gone to game 7, this series would have started on Tuesday instead of today, based on the existing schedule.

And we won 2 out of the 4 quarters today, so we got that going for us.

I think he's a natural 6 man and have since last summer...in the first qtr we need more length at the 2 guard and better defense...CJ is a sparkplug type player
CJ is a borderline all-star and a max contract player.

True, but he may be more useful in trade then as a building block; it'll be very hard to build around a backcourt that's on the small side and defensively challenged. It probably won't be optimal to pair him with Lillard but not playing him starter minutes would be a waste of talent--so a trade may be the logical outcome.

Or we have them work hard in the summer to become good defensive players.

The difference was the Blazers knew they were going to play Sunday no matter what. However they would have been playing the Clippers had they lost game 6. Much different scenario.

Predetermined schedule or not, no time to prepare vs. five days to prepare = disadvantage + throw the Blazers under the bus like a sacrificial lamb. The league treated us like the fall guy to their scripted heavyweight matchup. Like the movies, I'm rooting for the underdog to get pissed off and knock out the champ. We'll worry about the mob repercussions later. ;)
