Agreed on Assassins....initially. I will say, it's an incredible game and one the best looking games I've ever seen. However, once you get to about the 5th assassination you really start to notice the repetition. The game really is an incredible achievement, but it simply needs more variance in missions instead of doing the same five things over and over again. Hopefully they fix this flaw with AC2.

Is there going to be 60 GB Ps3's cause I want one, but if there isn't i just might buy a 360.

The 20 and 60 gig PS3's got discontinued the only ones available now at retail stores are the 40 gig and the 80 gig.

You can still buy the 60 on ebay, and if you're lucky if some stores have some left over.

Could you play PS2 games on the 80 or the 40?

The 80gig is completely backwards compatible for playing your PS2 games. So if that's your concern, you want to buy the 80gig.

Not completely, but it is probably 90-95 percent-ish. And since it runs on Software emulation, they can update it.

The 20 and 60 gig are "fully" compatible, but there are still not some games that work and will never be able to.

The 80GB only plays "some" PS2 games, not all.

60GB plays all.

And 40GB plays none.

Yep and you can't get the 60 GB anymore because it is out of production. The 80 GB console isn't entirely backwards compatible, but actually plays most games. Note that Sony made some changes so that other games that haven't worked well before such as Winning Eleven will now be playable. Also, remember that the 80 GB console compatibility isn't of the same quality as the first two console releases and the 60 GB. This is to save you some money, otherwise if the compatibility was the same as the previous releases the 80 GB would cost $600 or more instead of $500.

Best Buy is now discontinuing the 80 GB PS3.

There's also a big rumor that a White PS3 will be hitting the stores this Monday and the 399 price will be dropped by another 100 dollars to 299. Sony has also reported that they've cut manufacturing costs from 800 bucks a pop to 400, which would explain the price drop.

where did you find this info? What would you say the truth or possibility of it happening is? I have some Best buy gift cards and just sold my PS2 with all my games on eBay and was planning to buy a ps3 within the next weeks.

Link

There are a lot more links but I can't find them.

Sony has denied the rumor, but they can't come out and say "Yes, we'll be dropping the price by $100, but please still go out and pay 399 for the PS3 this week."

I think there's a big possibility of this happening, since their manufactoring costs have gone way down (65nm Cell, no backwards compatibility, cheaper blue laser diodes and Warner almost deciding the HD war have something to do with it), I think it would be stupid for Sony not to "share" that with their customers.

It would also put them in direct competition with the Wii, as far as price is concerned.

Of course there's also a possibility that this is just a rumor and will not happen yet.

But the White PS3 has been already filed by the Sony to the FCC and this "rumor" was first reported by slickdeals.net and cheapassgamer.com, the two websites that reported the last PS3 price drop a month or so in advance, as well as the X360 price drop well in advance. So...

Considering I'm thinking of getting one with my tax return money (assuming I have enough after buying out my Sprint contract), this is great news. I don't know if I'd get a white one though, I'd kind of like to vary it up since the Wii and 360 (I own both) are each white.

But then again it would look pretty cool all the same colour. I would get White to match my 360 and Wii. But I'm not looking at getting a PS3 for ome time. a year or so i might purchase one.

It would be kinda cool....but I need color variation on occasion. And the reason I want it is pretty simple Metal Gear Solid 4. The game looks incredible and I want it in a bad way, and the only way I can do this is by getting a PS3.

I'm a bit jealous.

The PS3 has got me a bit interested, but I'm barely buying 360 games, so it's out of the question anyway.

I'm thinking of getting a 360 or a PS3. Haven't decided which way to go yet.

in my opinion it isn't that close. 360 has some better games I admit, but the PS3 offer free internet play and a blu-ray player built in. If the price drop comes true, there is no reason you should be getting a xbox 360

PS3, better graphics, built in HD DVD player also.
X360, better processing power, better games, can buy HD DVD player to fit in, I think.

PS3 doesnt have an HD DVD, they have Blu-ray

HD DVD is a dying technology

You still worded it weirdly.

Blu-ray is a type of High Definition Media.

How's that?
