Fascism says many of my family members should not have rights or be allowed to be in the country. Fascists work to make that a reality.

Brother, defending against people that cause harm isn't hate. It is the right thing to do. There has to be justice for victims. If someone does something horrific, they deserve to be sentenced. If someone assaults your family you aren't going to be their best friend. Human nature is defending your loved ones.

I have a pretty good idea the future his ancestors dreamed of because they were like mine. They left the shtetl (shtetl was ghetto in Europe where Jews were required to live, sometimes walled in. When they went outside they were required to wear badges identifying them as Jews. You think the Nazis invented that?) arrived in America with no money and no English. They dreamed of a country where they could be free. No laws on where Jews could live or what professions they could pursue or if they could go to college. They dreamed their children would get an education and have a better life. They might even have dreamed someday their grandson would grow up in a beautiful affluent city in sunny California, attend one of the top universities in America and have an important job working for the president of the United States.

They surely never dreamed that job would be persecuting people like themselves with sadistic joy
