bad move getting AV, he cant get nothing out of this group of losers.... please no more loser from hartford either

You're not trading crap for 40 goal scorers. They need to play out the year and spend money on the right players. You can't have acteam full of grinders and midgets.

They've tried the buying FA route for 2 decades and it's been a disaster every time. The only time they got good was 2 years ago because they built from within and the players grew together as a team. Then they destroyed that team when it was oh so close. The team that cares about each other plays for each other. Mish moshing a bunch of FA's together never has, and never will work. Most don't want to hear it, but it's time to trade as many players as possible, get as many draft pick as possible, and start over completely. The only problem is Sather and his lifetime contract are still here.

Good call 62. Let's do that. Waste the rest of Hank's prime. We'll meet up again in 2018.

OR we can take a top 5 pick, take 37.5 mill in cap space this summer, and put together a bunch of good, big, solid players. Not a bunch of soft/semi-skilled hired guns. Make some smart moves to complete this team with some fiesty size this summer to go with a nice core.

Either or, but I'll choose the latter.

A top 5 pick will most likely not have an impact for 2-3 years. The FA buying spree has always been a disaster. Why would this time be any different? The team could be rebuilt from within in 2-3 years with smart trades for younger players, some draft picks, and development of younger guys we have now (Kreider, Miller, McIlrath). Then add a FA. Quite a few goalies have won at at age 36. With the shape Hank keeps himself in, I have little doubt he'd be good to go. If not, keeping this team in utter futility for 10 years by not rebuilding because of 1 player is not the way I'd like to see them go. If you think Hank couldn't win a cup at age 35-37, then trade him. I never want to see a repeat of the early 2000's ever again. I can't think of 1 team that ever won a cup built with mostly FA's. Please name one in case I'm missing them.

Not always true on the top 5 pick.

We will not go that route 62. Won't happen in NY.

We'll agree to disagree. I think with a top 5 pick, 37.5 mill in cap space, and a nice core we should make a big push this summer to complete this team the right way.

You want to go on a full re-build 3, 4, 5 year plan.

We agree to disagree on that. We cannot do that here. If we wanted to do that, why re-sign Hank? Makes no sense. We will not do that. We will do a miny re-build around the core this summer. Let's hope we do it correctly.

This team can be rebuilt in a year. Even if they trade Boyle, Callahan, Girardi and Brassard, they could sign all of them back potentially if they went UFA next year. In other words, the Rangers are in a very rare position where they have 4 players who they can rent out for high returns. That rarely happens. They should take advantage of that.

I predict Cally is re-signed by the trade DL. Closer call on Girardi, but gun to my head I think he is also re-signed by the trade DL. We'll see if I am correct on those two calls.

The rest of the free agents I think can/will get dealt.

But we 100% agree we can re-build in a year dump. When you have a bunch of free agents, a top 5 pick most likely, and a ton of cap space, you can do it for sure.

I don't think there is any chance they don't deal Girardi. I expect him to get a 1st, 2nd and an NHL ready, stay at home defenseman who is physical. Hate to say it but the Penguins are a perfect trading partner for Girardi.

Something like a 2014 first, 2015 second and Scott Harrington who is very smart, smart defensively and is a perfect fit for AV.

What we do with Moore, Pouliot, MDZ, Girardi, Cally, Brassard, Boyle, Pyatt will be very interesting to keep an eye on as this season moves forward. I'll say that much.

I think Girardi is more of a toss-up as to what I feel we'll do. Not sure how we handle him. Could come down to what he wants in his new deal discussions over the next month or two. Cally I think will be re-signed for 100% sure. I'd say mid to upper 4's per season.

Interesting to see how it plays out.

Pyatt is garbage. Who cares. D Moore same thing. If Pouliot would just grow a brain, he would be a valuable player.

I am not saying they are good. I am not saying I want them back. I am saying it will be interesting to see if we can deal them and get something back. That's what is interesting to me. Not the debate to bring them back. Can Sather get anything for Pyatt, Moore, Pouliot??? That's the question.

Hopefully they can get a few midround picks for any of the garbage and maybe Clark can hit on one of them.

Best drafts when you don't tank seasons is when you stock pile 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks. There is safety in numbers. That is how the organization hit on Dubinsky, Sauer and Callahan.

You are crazy to think a team is giving all that up for a its... especially if he is playing like carp (this boards opinion).

As usual Al, you do no research and have zero clue what you are talking about. Try looking up the deals at the deadline the last 2 years like I did. Complete scrubs were returning 2, 2nd round picks. Pominville who is similar to Girardi and Callahan returned a 1st, 2nd and a good prospect.

Think harder Al.

From how this board describes our players you would think they can barely skate. ...yet someone whose would give up two picks... and a player for a rental who is an old 30 year old who is on one knee all night long can't shoot .... either he is good and worthy or he sucks.. which is it?

Btw pominville has been a 20 goal scorer how many seasons? How I'd he similar to Girard?

paul gaustad and a 4th for a 1st rounder says it all.. people get stupid and desperate at the deadline. girardi will bring back a grand haul... ive been saying it since the first week of the season. on top of it all someone moronic like Calgary will give him stupid money this summer. all he does is flop around on the ice in front of hank now anyway. get rid of him.

Regyr got 2 2nd round picks. Girardi as a UFA has similar value but prob a little more. I think we can get a #1 pick for him but not much else

even if its just a 1st that's a deal that the team cant afford to pass on. Brass and cally packaged together would bring back a nice bag of goodies as well. we have a chance to do a real nice quick one season rebuild.. would be a true failure to not pull it off.

We will see...I hope you all are right... this just sucks watching this crap

It totally sucks to wait til next year. I hate it but its all we can do

Agreed. But look at the positives. A lot of the guys we all hate in here (Pyatt and Boyle to name two) will be gone next season. So look at the positives instead of the negatives.

There is no reason we can't be on top next season IF we do it right this summer. We'll see if we do.

The plan sounds good guys as this team is going nowhere. Hope sather is seeing it the same way and starts pulling the friggin trigger on some moves and getting some assets back to rebuild and reload with along with the future fa arrivals for next year.

If we can't get Phil Robertson as our next President, I would gladly take him as our GM.
