When the police chief involved in Isiah Thomas' apparent overdose gets with a New York Times reporter and calls Zeke a liar, all the clouds of confusion dissipate. Most of Friday was spent with contemplation and questions as Thomas' son and later Thomas himself insisted Isiah's daughter was the sick one, and that Thomas was just sick from worry. He sold his daughter out.
Reached Friday evening, Harrison Police Chief David Hall confirmed that a 47-year-old male had been taken from Thomas’s home. He refuted claims that the incident involved Thomas’s daughter.

“I understand that this person claims it was his daughter; he is lying,” Hall said. “It was definitely not his daughter, it was a male. We know the difference between a 47-year-old black male and a young black female.”
Only someone as selfish and delusional as Isiah could erase all the world's sympathy in less than 24 hours. Admitting his mistakes -- purposed or accidental -- has never been a trait Thomas could find refuge in. In his tenure with the Knicks, he blamed everyone else for everything that went wrong. He constantly made excuses for himself -- during the sexual harrassment trial, through the Larry Brown saga, as coach of a 23-win team.

It's extraordinarily sad he takes the same tack in his family life, trying to pass the blame to his teenaged daughter for his mistake (again, regardless if it was planned or accidental). He will never stop trying to squirrel himself out of situations he created, will he?
