Police tase and arrest a black man picking his kids up from preschool

My guess is if it was a white guy or an asian guy, under similar circumstances, it's doubtful anyone would've called the police in the first place, OR they would've just said "This is an area reserved for employees of the banks only, so you'll have to find another place to sit"

Maybe. My guess is if security guard says this is an area reserved for employees of the bank only so you'll have to find another place to sit, and the person left, no matter the race, police don't get called. If the person doesn't leave police get called. It's the report that the person refused to leave that sounds like it generated the call. Watching this guy on tape I'm guessing he refused to leave the area because it wasn't marked, he falsely believes he can sit anywhere that isn't marked and he thought he was being targeted because he was black. So he stays.

But we are just guessing at this point.

I think there's a reason why the charges/issue was dropped by the police.

well said and repped

and I am making the assumption that A) he was a black guy in a predominately white area. B) His claim that he was there to pick up his children fell on deaf ears because if the statement was true, it would have been unusual based upon race C) His indifference to their authority and false scene of security in his civil rights is what really got him in trouble D) Had he acted the same in a black area, this would not have happened

What say you?

I think this is a guy who has dealt with racisim all his life. He feels decisions that don't go his way are due to him being black and he is sick of it. Probably felt the security guard was trying to kick him out of that area because he was black.

Being Minny, he could well have been targeted for being black. Also though, if it really was a place for employees only the security guard probably would have told anybody to leave that area. I could see that conversation not going well and security calling police.

I think overall it was just silly situation that could have been resolved easily had he just cooperated with the police but he was of the mindset of why do I always have to explain myself just because I'm black.

Thanks for the discussion . . . repped back

the guy was resisting arrest. "put your hands behind your back" doesn't mean "keep on walking while arguing".

Obviously the cops fucked up. Bitch retired immediately afterwards and charges were dropped.

"Protect and Serve" has become a joke.

Far too many cops no longer even see themselves as part of the community. The certainly don't see themselves as "public servants." They roam the streets with a dangerous mix of fear, hostility, and egotism. Either there is something fundamentally wrong with how they recruit/train cops, or roid rage has become an epidemic.

The guy is lucky he wasn't shot 13 times. 13, just to be sure he could be subdued.
