On tonight's game:
“We’ve had a good year by playing aggressively and executing well for more minutes than our opponents, but tonight the Blazers did that,” Popovich said. “They sustained in the second half better than we did. They kept on working at it and their aggressiveness, their physicality, their execution wore us down, and we didn’t keep it up.

“They went out and took the game in the second half and we folded, to some degree.”

On voting for Aldridge:
The Western Conference’s coaches will make that decision this week, but Popovich seemed convinced after Tuesday’s performance.

“Obviously,” he said, “he was great.

On the season:
The Spurs were coming off a 12-3 January, the worst of the first three months of the season for a team whose 40-8 record remains the NBA’s best. They began their brutal February campaign against an injury-plagued Blazers team that Popovich can’t help but admire.

“It’s beyond persistence and resilience, what they’ve done,” he said of the Blazers, now 26-22 despite injuries that have put centers Greg Oden and Marcus Camby and All-Star guard Brandon Roy on the injured list for extended periods. “I can’t imagine, if we lost Timmy and Manu, where we would be.

“They deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve done, but they don’t want the credit. They just play and win. They don’t worry about it. They just go to the next step and compete.”

I hope the Blazers put this motivation to the next few games, however I think they will run out of gas versus Denver. After Denver they can could still win some games.

They had not run out of gas tonight. I get to see the team at the most twice a year here in Denver, and the results are almost never good. I think we have to slow the game down and pound the ball inside.

Well if someone said we split SA and Denver....

I think we would have all signed up for that.

The important games are the 3 after tonight. Gotta beat Indi, Cavs, and Chicago (at home). No one expected to beat Spurs or Nuggets.

Pop is classy and the Blazers should be very proud of their performance last night.

The Spurs bloggers are brilliant sometimes.

I love the conversation with Oden and Roy

[2nd HALF!]

LA: (scores)

LA: (bucket)

LA: (swish!)

LA: (scores)

GO: "Holy cow... he's goooooo-oood." (talking about LA)

Roy: "That could've been you, Greg. Actually... that could've been... us." /runs back to locker room, sobbing

This was funny to me....

http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursn...-aldridges-compelling-late-all-star-argument/

The Trail Blazers’ announcing crew (Barrett & Rice) made the second half almost sound like an infomerical for LaMarcus Aldridge’s All-Star hopes.

The former Texas standout had a good game that night, but it wasn’t spectacular. It almost became a joke the more I watched the game and the greater their hyperbole became.

I can only imagine what they were saying Tuesday night, when Aldridge looked like a combination of Julius Erving, Bob McAdoo with a little Karl Malone thrown in for good measure. Aldridge erupted for a career-high 40 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Trail Blazers to a resounding 99-86 victory over the Spurs.

winning in denver tonight is almost impossible. after a huge win last night the team will be tired and flat.

the bad news is... grizz play minny and cavs tonight and fri.

by friday grizz will be 27-24

by friday blazers will be 26-23... maybe 27 if they beat the pacers.

Weren't you the one who said we had absolutely no shot @ beating the Spurs?

we have no chance of beating anyone ever, and if we do, we have less than zero chance of winning after that.

unless we do... then im not sure what happens.

that's all ive picked up from mixum over the years

I would have to agree with Mixum on this one. Based on the last 30 years of playing in Denver the night after we played a home game....................there is a chance, but it is very very small. Way smaller than playing anyone at the Rose Garden.

Danm mixum, you jsut jinxed the Blazers. We need the "No way Blazers win tonight" from you to have a chance tonight.

Nah, we'll never beat the Nuggets. If we couldn't beat the Spurs, how can we expect . . . wait a minute!
