They served durian at the training table. I'd throw that too.

That's it! We're trading you to the...........Kings! You can root for them from now on. We can't condone such behavior.

It's a lottery pick in terms of talent, more talented than someone like Simons BUT he has way too many personal issues it seems like

We don't really need another guard. Not unless it's a point guard.

We're already complaining (rightfully so) that Gary Trent, Jr. isn't getting enough run, I just don't see how there would be any PT for KPJ with the way the roster is currently constructed.

If you can get him for pennies on the dollar, sure. Unless you think Portland is championship-caliber now or you see a clear path to Portland getting to championship-caliber, the Blazers need to take some risks. It's not like they're risking the chemistry of a championship team--if it doesn't work out, cut him. If it does work out, maybe you end up with another talented player on the roster.

Seattle boy.

It could be just what he needs - to be back near home.

No..... We don't need him. I thought with the loss of Nurk, the focus of the team is moving towards big men.
Besides, so many threads had been created to dump CJ, he is still here. Gary Trent Jr. is the real deal. Give him substantial playing minutes.

Jailblazers era ended almost 20 years ago, no thanks

I don't think he's ready to coach an NBA team yet.

I'm opposed to it for a very specific reason: I could not stand to hear Jordan Kent say "KEVIN PORTER JUNIOR!!!" over and over

if Trent, Jones and Porter were all on the floor at the same time, I'd have to gouge my eardrums out

Not a shooting guard. We have plenty of shooting guards.

Hood/Trent/Simons/Elleby..... we have that covered.

You've been painting the forum red with how useless Hood is, and we all have been pointing out how useless Simons is. Trent can and should start from now on at SG, but I don't think we have a decent, reliable guard behind Lillard and Trent now.

I wasn't putting them in order of how I would play them.

That wasn't my point. You named two players who have been terrible (at least one of which YOU'VE been campaigning about how terrible he is) as the kind of depth that proves we don't need any more non-point guards.

And Elleby hardly counts. He's played all of 34 minutes--he's a complete unknown.

So basically we have starters at guard (Lillard and Trent), two players who have managed to provide no value this year, and a rookie who has barely played. Yeah, we need off guards.

Hood has not been much to look at this year. Elleby, just no. Simons, he's had his chances and then some and other than the rare "oh, maybe he'll work out after all" flash, I see someone who is, at best, a role player.

With respect to Trent, I love the guy but his game is not well rounded. His defense is pretty darn good. 3 point shooting is a bit streaky but good. Passing & rebounding, not so much.

As we've seen in the past (just look at last game), when CJ is not around, when Dame is out, so is our team. There is nobody to lead, to guide, to pass or make plays. It becomes not just a Melo iso-attack, it essentially becomes five guys pretending to play together by occasionally passing the ball but realistically is five-way-iso-ball. Not a recipe for any kind of success.

Don't know that Porter, Jr is the answer but our current situation is looking pretty abysmal unless, somehow a miracle happens and Simons suddenly becomes a semi-legitimate PG (even a lo-cal version compared with his current no-cal version).

Gramps...

A point guard, or at least someone that can effectively handle the ball, is a much more pressing need than another shooter.

Sure, if one can be found. But any kind of guard is a pressing need now, so I'd definitely take a flier on Porter Jr. We currently have no proven, usable guards right now past the starters.
