I know he's not popular around here, but he fits perfectly next to Roy. Like, too perfect.

43% the last two years from 3 while averaging over 5 attempts per game. He's Steve Blake x100.

While you're exaggerating it just a touch, he was supposed to be the #2 guy in Cleveland. Here he could be the #3.

You aren't going to find may better options that are realistic, and have that guy fit perfectly next to Roy.
 
I think he'd be an upgrade at PG in terms of how he fits with Brandon on the floor. But if Roy gets hurt again, then we're screwed since Mo can't create anything off the dribble. It'd be an "eh" move to me, but I could see why the Blazers are interested because of his shooting ability, he's only 27 years old and his contract is reasonable.
 
A "PG" whose only skill is to hang around the perimeter and chuck 3s - but only in non-clutch situations. Awesome. :smiley-puke:
 
he's basically a perfect compliment to guys portland has offensively. defense leaves a lot to be desired as does not showing up in the playoffs. getting him wouldn't be a perfect move but he's an improvement over miller.

I do think Mo Williams would be almost a perfect fit next to Roy. I like Miller but Williams would make us better. Williams didn't have a great playoffs but he did win game 2 or 3 in the Boston series by himself(can't remember which one). He just took over the 2nd half of that game when nobody else could do anything.

Portland doesn't have a number 2 guy and Mo Williams wouldn't change that one bit.

He looked really good because he played next to LeBron.

He won't look nearly as good next to B-Roy.
 
No thanks. For those who think he's a perfect fit next to Roy, I disagree. He's only a perfect fit next to Roy in Nate's simplistic isolation offense. Getting Mo Williams would mean another season of one-dimensional offense that works OK in the regular season, but is easily stopped in a seven game play-off series.

Hell, Cleveland ran a similar offense with Mo Williams playing next to the best player in the world and look what it got them - a lot of regular season wins, but failure in the post season.

What this team needs is more variety on offense, not a return to the days of Steve Blake camped out at the 3-point line waiting for the kick-out as the shot clock expires while Brandon runs the ice play 9 times in a row. Hell, if we're going back to that, we might was well go after Blake. I'm sure he can be had for less money than Mo Williams, we wouldn't have to give up anything to get him, we know Brandon is comfortable with him, he shoots the 3 better, especially in the play-offs than Mo Williams, gets more assists and turns the ball over less. I don't want Blake back, but I want Mo Williams even less.

That's the ONLY thing he has on Dre. But if I look at a switch of Dre/Mo holistically, I like Miller much better. Dre is a far better leader, much smarter, and does not have nearly as big an ego as Mo. I've watched this Williams character closely over the past two years, and I don't want him.
 
Ok, I wouldnt trade miller for Mo either, but miller is done in like a year and hopefully we would use his EC for something good...

But, Mo williams can shoot, and he does it damn well. Perfect fit next to Roy (except he cant play defense)

My question is, if you compared lets say Blake to Williams, everyone would have to agree that Mo is the much better player right?

I agree. Mo is a great 3 point specialist and except for the playoffs, a OK defender. I have no idea why he played so poorly against Orlando on 'D', but the guy is young, and has some talent. I hope we are not judging the guy because he isn't a sexy trade like Chris Paul. Spacing the floor with Oden and Roy is a good thing. He is one player you can't leave open which helps open up the middle. I think he is a slight upgrade for Dre. Remember, Dre was a terrible defender and improved some under Nate. Mo will probably get better too.
 
the LAST thing we need is another player who is not a good perimeter defender.
 
This is either
(a) a huge smokescreen, or
(b) a last act of mercy from KP, to ensure that I won't miss him

This would not make the Blazers a better team. I'd like more outside shooting from the PG position, but not at the expense of every other aspect of the game. Outside of guys like Paul or Nash, who are probably a pipedream, I'd just as soon keep Miller and watch him penetrate and lob to Oden.
 
2 things the Blazers don't need: a weak perimeter defender, and even worse ball movement. Williams provides both.

I guess some people pine for the days of Damon as our PG.

age? Dude is almost 7 years younger.

I'd be all for adding Williams as he seems an obvious fit beside Roy/not surprised that management inquired about his availability. I'm sure they make inquiries about players from most every team this time of year

What was Cleveland's record without LeBron last year and year before? I honestly don't think they won a single game.


If that's playing well then I would hate to see what sucking looks like.

Well if you want to use flawed logic, Andre Miller has never won a playoff series.

He had some of his best seasons with Milwaukee, including one which he shot 48% from the field and 39% from three. If you're bringing him in expecting him to be your top player, you're making a big mistake, but he can really be a valuable piece.

Cleveland won 45 games in 07-08. With Mo in 08-10, they won 65 games and 61 games, respectively.
