I don't mind that deal, but for some reason in the back of my mind I hope all this smoke is just a rouse to get someone else to pay him so we can target someone else.

I'm less and less enamored with getting Hedo day by day. I'd rather get a point guard. But who knows.. there's so much hype and expectations surrounding this one move that KP might make, I'm afraid it might not live up to it.
 
You know for Portland "leading the charge" on so many things lately a lot of nothing has been achieved. :tsktsk:
 
yea, i hope this gets done soon, i want to update my NBA 2K roster.
 
Portland isn't leading the charge for Hedo because they only have 7 million under that cap and Hedo wants 10. Where is the other 3 million going to come from? KP has already said Blake and Outlaw are here next year, so that money is taken up.

Hedo is a pipe dream.

So is Miller, BTW. That moron thinks he deserves 10 million a year too.

You ever hear of a sign and trade? I also think if we could get Miller if they wanted him they would trade Blake and/or Outlaw no matter what KP said earlier.
 
I agree with Andelusional's :devilwink: comment about length of deal. The money is not as big as the length.

As for adding Hedo, I think it would be a good addition. However, if we add him, then we really need to get rid of another SF. We also would still need a huge upgrade at PG, which IMO, is our possition of most need.
 
He's not in my pipe. Or my dream! Bad fit. He'd take away shots from LA. no thanks.
 
This is why Hedo works...

#1- He can take some heat off Brandon and teams won't be inclined to double team him as much
#2- He can run the pick and roll better than most point guards
#3- He can hit the 3 unconsciously
#4- He has court vision/handles like a PG
#5- Allows us to have one of the biggest frontlines in the NBA
#6- He is the seasoned vet we are looking for

As for a point guard, If Bayless improves this offseason like we hope, Hedo and Brandon will handle the ball, allowing Bayless to slash and drive to the hoop and do what he does best, plus he can be the defender we need at the point.

LA- will have more open 15 footers due to kick outs

Oden/Pryz- will have easy dunks off the pick and roll

He wants an average of $10 million/year over the life of the contract. Depending on the length of the contract, that means it could start in the $7 - $8 range with max. raises over the length of the contract.

Still, what he wants and what he gets may be too different things. In this economy, with so many teams looking to shead salary, and so few looking to increase their payroll, it's a buyer's market for the few teams that actually have cap space and are willing to use it.

I highly doubt we'll have $10 million to pay him. Best case scenario, from what I've heard, is that we'll be about $8 mil under the cap, based on the number the NBA releases next Wednesday. That's assuming we don't release the rights to Kopponen and/or Freeland, and KP has reiterated that he has no plans to release either of them.

You said great court vision, but it should also be pointed out that he actually likes to pass to the players he sees on the court.

He would be a really solid pick up

No, Travis and Martel can then be traded with stuff for Rubio. It gives Rubio time to develop for a few years before he becomes our premier playmaker. KP is a friggin genius. :cheers:

Not if we ship out Outlaw and Martell can't play. Sombody needs to be our number 1 scoring option off the bench. Sounds like the perfect role for Rudy, IMHO.

Gerald Wallace is my preferred option at SF, but I doubt we can get him. Larry Brown seems to really like him, but Charlotte ownership is extremely cash strapped - and with Diaw and Vlad Rad they have players on their roster than can absorb Wallace's minutes (especially, if we send them Outlaw). So, a lopsided sign and trade of Wallace, plus a bad contract, for Outlaw and Blake, may not be completely out of the question. If it is, Hedo wouldn't be a bad fall back plan - if the contract isn't too long.

Most of them, but I can see running an occasional three guard line-up with Roy, Rudy and Bayless. Depending on the match-up, they could also go small with Turk at the 4 and Rudy at the 3. Lot's of possibilities.

So Rudy can count on 10-12 minutes behind Brandon, and 'occasional' minutes in a 3 guard lineup. Turk at the 4 and Rudy at the three gets Rudy minutes at Nic's expense. Nic was told at the end of the season that the starting spot was his to loose. I doubt that he will be happy sitting to make Rudy happy.

Doesn't seem like lots of possibilities to me. Guess we'll agree to disagree. I still believe that Rudy needs (and will want) to go if the Blazers bring in a starting quality SF.

We would have to trade a fair amount to get Rubio.

More like Blake, Outlaw, Martell (would they take him?) and one of Rudy, Batum or Bayless. Bayless or Rudy would be the logical choice there unless you want to ship Batum (NOOOOO!) and bring over Claver? If you include Batum you have to keep Outlaw (NOOO!!!!) or Martell (might not play).

That's quite a lot of caveats to consider. Do you really think we have the horses to get Rubio? I think we do but we will have to give up some talent either Rudy or Bayless plus Outlaw and Blake might get it done. Not sure if Minnie has any interest in Przybilla.

If we pick up Hedo I think you have to assume that either Rudy or Batum are gone probably in exchange for a PG of some sort.

If you pick up Hedo you have Outlaw, Martell, Przybilla (maybe), Bayless, Blake and one of Rudy or Batum to trade for a PG. That's alot of ammo. If you do the trade first then you can pull off a lopsided trade like Harris and a 2010 expiring.

Isn't a greater worry that Batum will now have many fewer minutes? And thus our defense goes from bad to very bad. Batum is actually somebody you can stick on a guard. I doubt that's a good idea with Turkoglu (Kobe on that one shot excepted).

I don't disagree, Rasta. I think Nic is going to be a stud, and I'm not at all convinced that Turk will be better than Nic, when D is factored in.

I'm not big on the idea of getting a SF, but if that's the direction, I assume that the new SF will have to beat out Nic for the starting spot. At least, that's what management said at the end of last season.

My point was that Rudy gets much of his PT at SF, and SF minutes will be used up by the SF's, if we bring in a quality 3.
