Rookie Nicolas Batum surprised many when he was running plays with Portland's first team at practice on Tuesday.

Blazers coach Nate McMillan has cautioned reading too much into the move, but it seems plausible that Batum might help fill in for Martell Webster, who is recovering from a broken foot.

"He’s doing some good things," McMillan said of Batum. "With Martell being down for the next couple months, we have to look at filling that position. We are a small forward short, so we have to take a look at him."
