OT Portland Timbers vs. Sporting Kansas City - Epic Penalty Shootout

That was cool! Hadn't seen it. Kept seeing the updates last night on twitter. Thanks for posting.

Watched it live. That was as exciting as the first Blazer game I ever saw (a 2OT win against the Lakers in 1990). Super-intense finale!

You would never see that many misses in any other league. Good times.

What makes you say that?

They had three chances to close us out where they missed subsequently after we did. Jewsbury kicks it over the bar, and then the dude after him for SKC does the same with a chip shot?? Kind of amateur if you ask me, exciting none the less.

I'm glad the kickers suck because the goalies couldn't handle better kickers.

What an insane finish!

Oh, and Jesus Christ, men's soccer players are douchebags.

Also, "Sporting Kansas City?" Seriously?

I initially though that, too, but I think on Fox Sports last night they mentioned it's actually close to the average when compared to leagues around the world. Pretty surprising.

But yeah, some of those misses were cringe-worthy. Still, the drama in that game was a sight to behold and I'm glad I got to witness it live.

It's up there with Real Salt Lake, Columbus Crew SC, Toronto FC, Orlando City SC, New York FC, FC Dallas and of course the lamest name and franchise in all of sports, Seattle Sounders FC.

I watched it live on TV with my son. The entire game was a blast! That penalty shot SKC missed when it hit both posts was incredible! I've never seen that happen before. I play indoor soccer as a goalie, and coach my son's rec team. The odds of it hitting both posts like that is hard to imagine. Go Timbers!

I've never seen that happen before. I still can't believe that happened. So fortunate.

Real Salt Lake is the absolute worst one in my opinion. "Royal" Salt Lake... Really!?

That may have been the greatest game I've ever been to. And fuck the Euro snobs. MLS is on the rise!
MLS is probably about as good as the third best league in England. This is really not an insult.. Football (soccer) has essentially no competition from any other sports over there. But I don't see why it matters how good MLS is compared to other leagues, doesn't make the games any less entertaining, that's for sure.

I thought the names sounded silly too when I started watching. They are slightly less goofy with time.

False. MLS is better than any league in England other than EPL.

It happens to the best of them:
