Game Thread Portland Trail Blazers vs. L.A. Clippers - Preseason Game #3 - 10/8/2017, 12:30pm

Ed was great two years ago, but he's starting to feel like the odd man out to me.

I'm fine with Terry giving him his usual 17-20 mpg a game if the rookies don't prove to be useful as they've looked so far, but when I think about the different frontcourt combinations that make sense and could be positives for us, I struggle to come up with one involving him.

Aminu/Davis might be the only one and that even might be ugly if Aminu doesn't shoot the 3 better this year.

Kinda why he's making the vet min and trying to win the 15th spot.

Volume 3pt shooters who go off at a 42% clip for the better part of a decade who can do anything else aren't available for the vet min.

But there are people in here actually convinced he's gonna just replace Crabbe. Not gonna lie, connaughton has shot the ball well and brings more to the table than Morrow.

On Crabbe he only score 10 points a game off the bench. Today Harkless score 16 and if he can do that then it improvement. Overall so far our bench is deeper for us then last year. Today had Harkless Collins Turner Davis and right there to me is 9 deep right now. Now Vonleh and Napier come back that 11 players that can make positive things on the court. Yes we don't have the big name players but them 11 players are solid basketball players.

Just got home. Here are my observations from the game

Nurk and Jordan are gonna get into it this year. It's easy to tell they don't really like each other. Jordan probably doesn't like behind pushed around. Not used to it. They have a history too. When Nurk was with the nuggets he would jaw at Jordan a lot.

Briscoe is still more fun than Morrow. Connaughton actually did alright. Maybe his one fan was right and he develops into not a bum.

Collins might be skinny but he looks loooong in person and moves like a smaller man.

Swanigan is all out and had a couple of really nice defensive possessions against Blake. His strength and length will bother guys, despite the less than ideal agility.

Harkless really stood out. His post ups are fun to watch and his shot looks a little bit cleaner than last year.

I say this as someone who believed in Layman; he looks awful. His shots aren't even close and plays timid.

Teodosic is going to be a top 15 PG in the league as a rookie.

Which is why it was smart to kick the tires on Crabbe then sell high.

Do you really think Harkless can average a 15 or so points a game? I don't.

Sames. I was busy finishing my fermented Hatch chili hot sauce. It was worth missing the game. It's basically a hotter green version of sriracha. I'm calling it Green River Killer.
I want a bottle! I'm obsessed with hot sauce, really want to start making my own. I've been making homemade salsa but I wanna expand to hot sauce.

I love Crabbe. I don’t know why guys here hated him for the most part. He was the 3rd best 3 point shooter in the league on TONs of attempt for the season..

We fucked up letting him go

We didn't just let him go.... we traded him for nothing.

Maybe someday when I'm able to make larger quantities. I'm in research and development mode. This batch is great though. Anchos, green jalapeno, garlic and a touch of habanero: half grilled, half fresh. Fermented with salt, brown sugar, and lime juice for 4 weeks, and then blended with a secret mix of vinegars, strained and bottled. It took 4 pounds of peppers to make 2 large sriracha bottles full.

That's awesome man! I'm gonna have to get started. How does the fermentation work, do you just let them sit, or do you have special equipment?

Family member of victim of Green River Killer: Do you want an omelette? I've got some really dank fermented hot sauce to go with it. It's called Green River Killer and I love it!

He might not but he will get at least as much or more that Crabbe got off the bench. That if he coming off the bench this year that hasn't been determined yet.

Hark is pretty much dependent on others to set him up though on offense. I love how quickly he gets the ball up (and in) after receiving the pass in the post. And of course he is decent at the 3-ball. But his handles are still weak and creating his own shot won't happen very often. I anticipate his offense to be similar to Crabbe in the fact it will not be consistent. Even as a starter.

The odds of that are fairly slim. Do you know what is a growing trend though? True Crime fanatics. From Netflix docs, mugs, t-shirts, to a billion podcasts.

Start with simple online recipes and work from there. It's a basic lactic fermentation. No special equipment needed. I start with peppers, water, garlic, salt, and brown sugar blended up. The salt prevents harmful bacteria from growing and only the good bacteria can survive. Loosely cover and stir once a day. Once it is fermented to your liking, blend with vinegar, strain for seeds and bottle. That is the basics, but you can do so many things with it. I grew all the peppers for it this year. My red chilis will be ripe later this week, so I'll try another batch.

It's interesting to me, as well, that we talk about the dearth of shooting on the team. If we do keep Morrow, we'll have two of the top 16 All-Time 3pt% shooters in Morrow and CJ, and OBTW by the end of the year our PG will likely be Top 50 all-time of 3pt made.

Wait, what? I never saw that stat about CJ, other than where he ranked last season.

It looks like Harkless practice is free throw shooting. He looks comfortable this year shooting them.

Thanks for the tips! I'm gonna have a nice pepper garden next year but for now I'll just go store bought or online ordering!
