Marcus Thames? Holy crap that had to be a misprint. The only one in that group I would agree with is Paul O'Neill. And two other choices would be Bernie Williams & Lou Pinella. Pinella would be my first choice because he's a no nonsense type of guy & I really believe that he'd have both McCann & Teixeira hitting to the left side in no time. JMO.

I agree with the additions of Pinella, not Bernie.... I agree with Paulie, but I'm also OK with Tino.... Maybe Willie, but not Thames either
 
Jorge, Tino, Paulie or Bernie. No way Lou takes a job like that....besides he's never faced a cut fastball in a real game, lol!
 
Considering the way they screwed Bernie after his last season I wouldn't mind seeing him back in pinstripes, but I'd like to see him lose about 50 lbs first.

every player got to bigs for a reason, casue they were either a good hitter, pitcher, catcher, fielder, right? are we at least on the same page?

They're good hitters & pitchers for 10-15 years & then they're good hitters & pitchers for 2-3 years. Are we at least on the same page?
 
oh my goodness i c this is gonna take more work... the players got to the bigs with no help from anyone but their God given talent, well most have anyway, no one after that can make such a drastic change in a player to make him an all star... u could put daffy duck in as hitting coach and the players will still either produce or not produce... every hitter has a different approach at the plate, the great ones were the most confident, relaxed, and patient hitters, the ones who thought too much were the avg... thats why there is such a disparity in the great ones to the avg!

Bernie had a decent season in 2006 hitting 281 with 12 HRs & 61 RBI in only 130 games. 16 years & only 37 years. I think the year he had warranted an invite back which he never got. Why do you think he never announced his retirement. He was probably hoping the Yankees would have reconcidered & IMO they should have. I just thought it was a lousy way to end a pretty nice career.

I hear what you're saying Ron & to an extent I agree with you but lets look at it on an individual basis as opposed to an entire team fix all,

Up until 2010 you were an career 300 hitter but now you can barely crack the 240s. Your power has diminished & you're no longer getting any lift on the ball. So as the hitting coach I go over endless footage of your swing, your stanch & even your grip on the bat in 2010 & I compare it to now looking for differences. So as a hitting coach I call you unto the film room & as a hitting coach doing my job I point out to you that I've noticed that your stance is more open, or that you're not chocking up anymore, or maybe your leg kick is more exaggerated. So as a hitting coach whats my next step? Lets go to the batting cage & see if we can work on any combination of the new changes that could improve your average. And if I'm doing my job properly I'm going to find something.

Now I may not get you back to being the 300 hitter you were but if I can get you to 260-270 than I'm earning my pay. Again......JMO.
 
...how many times in that last 2 years has Tex said he was going to start going the opposite way when batting LHed?...quite a few.

...Tex and the others can spend all the time they want practicing in the pregame batting cage, but come game time, it's ultimately up to the player to apply that practice to actual in-game ABs...and Tex still defiantly tries to hit through the shift. The hitting coach cannot hold a gun to the hitters' heads.

Tex- as his BA and production go down, or fail to improve...
..he gets dropped LOWER in the batting order until those magic words are spoken:
"do you know what comes after the 9th spot"?

Just unrealistic fan talk. Those guys have plenty of money and are into other things. Bernie for example is not quitting his music to take a job as hitting coach.
 
If Bernie chooses playing guitar over being the Yankees hitting coach right on, when Baseball Season finishes my music season starts and I'm contemplating either upgrading the amp for my acoustic guitars or buting a American Deluxe Tele and a pig nose.
 
...doesn't exactly speak volumes for the school system in your area.
