Forward

Harkless

Layman
Little
Labissiere

Center

Nurkic

Leonard

Two Way

1. Hoard
2.

I included Layman since he’s restricted. So that’s 12. We have the tax MLE. Do we split it? Use it on one player? Who you targeting now that the roster is a bit more clear headed into free agency?

Personally, I think Hood, Curry, and Kanter are all gone. I’m 70-30 on Aminu leaving as well. Seems like we could use some beef up front. Kyle O’Quinn remains my choice, and I think he could be had for the vet minimum. Another option? Greg Monroe. He’d be a cheap replacement for Kanter. Muscala is another. That would leave the tax MLE. Would it be enough to land Ariza or Carroll? How about Markieff or Taj Gibson?

MLE on Kanter

Bring in Bender and Sefolosha, re-sign Aminu and Layman.

My somewhat irrational belief is that Hood will stay. Neil used 2 2nd rounders to get him, and likely has some
plan to keep him.
Hood still on his rookie deal, doubt he will stay for less than 7-8 mil. He proved himself in the playoffs, he will be a sought after third tier free agent.

I am unsure of the merits of bringing back Layman.

With all of the FAs, there will be better players available for vet. min.

I thought maybe Olshey made a rare slip in his media session last night. He mentioned that they were limited due to limits on roster spaces. They only way I see that being true is if you keep Layman and Aminu.

I didn't realize we had so much room. I sure wish Olshey had traded into the second round and got Bruno Fernando.

And he thinks he is going to somehow retain Kanter and Hood?

Question for all you smart people... Is there a way to get another team to sign and then trade Kanter to us? Really want him back but I'm sure the MLE isn't going to do it.

Evidently they explored it but thought the asking price was insane. Did we even have three second rounders to trade?

Kanter is way more important than Hood. I actually think Curry is higher on my list than Hood, but it sure feels like we're not retaining either of them

Okay, given the lack of response, I'll open this up to dumb people as well.

Well in that case......No

So was mine.

Just realized and deleted my post, but I guess I was too late.. haha

Lmao.... That was some funny shit right there!

Hood is kind of an enigma. he's done well in systems that utilized him the correct way. He may want a pay day or he may want to remain with a team and fanbase that love him where he excels. I'm hoping for the latter.

I have a question: how much would Portland save if they rescinded Layman’s QO?

not sure what you mean?

his QO is around 1.9M. That's not nearly enough margin to accomplish anything. I sure do hope the Blazers don't end up paying him more than 3-4M a year; even that might be too much

How much do the blazers have to clear to open up the full MLE? Isn’t it around 2M? Or is Layman’s QO not part of Portland’s payroll

Remember we did the math the other day with your Wiggins trade. Saving $2 million wasn't enough. We need to find a way to cut at least $3 million but the more we can cut from that the better. Not offering Layman the QO only saves us about $1 million because his hold is $1.9 million and a minimum roster hold is expected to be just under $900,000.
