First mention is Taylor Hendricks, because of fit for the Trail Blazers.
Hendricks is a 6’9” power forward, a shot-blocking force who shot 39% on 3-pointers (4.6 attempts per game) and 78% at the free-throw line.
His athleticism and length should allow him to defend multiple positions.
In most respects he is a work-in-progress on offense.
Hendricks is 19 years old.

We have a draft thread. How does this differ?

Agreed.

We'll have an entire month to talk about the specific draft pick we'll own and if we should trade it; so having another thread about players we'll never draft, that will turn into people debating over if we should keep Dame, doesn't make much sense.

Dame wants draft picks now? I thought he wanted proven veteran players so the team can win now?

Dame would be cool with Wemby (I know you said 2-8) I would also be cool with Wemby. Dame will be pissed if we use any picks outside of number one on Wemby on anyone else in this draft and I'm with him.

We've gone from Dame saying he's not interested in rebuilding, to others saying he'll be pissed if we use the #2 pick.

As with many stories, this one seems to get a exaggerated a little more each time it is retold.

Why is it a shot? He said he thought they had enough 19 year olds. So Wemby aside, if we take Dame at his word, any player in the #2-8 spots that are 19, Dame doesn't want.

"Potential Draft Picks 2-8"

which, as pointed out, is something already being discussed in the draft thread. Adding the 2nd sentence of the title had a specific purpose, and it's pretty damn easy to figure what it is....and again, that part is already being discussed in the draft thread, and is also being discussed, thoroughly, in other threads

Can someone start a Dame wants to win now with Wemby.

Here’s Cam Whitmore. A bowling ball (230 lbs.) of a wing player who is only 18 years old.

Jarace Walker is a 19-year-old, 240 lb. power forward that looked like a college player in high school and has an NBA-ready-body as a one-and-done at Houston.
Walker should be one of the better defenders from the 2023 draft class, but also has a good feel for the game on offense, which separates him from Taylor Hendricks.

So, Dame would be OK with Miller or one of the Thompsons, since they're all 20...right? And, you know, Walker will be 20 before the season starts, so he should be OK too?
I don't think that was what the man was saying.

Brandon Miller is a 20-year-old, 6’9” forward who shot 38% on 3-pointers and 86% on free throws (4.6 attempts per game).
Miller could be taken as early as the 2nd pick in the 2023 draft.

Brandon Miller, Cam Whitmore, and Jarace Walker should be both good fits and significant contributors in their rookie seasons.
Taylor Hendricks has more limited skills, but his athleticism, rim-protection/ defense and 3-point shooting should allow him to contribute immediately in a “3 and D” capacity.

For me, Cam Whitmore is the most fun to watch because of his athleticism and strength driving to the basket. Whitmore and Sharpe could form a very dynamic duo moving forward. It’s easy to see one of the other guys doing that too, though.

What current NBA player(s) will the Blazers get for picks #2-8?

I don’t know, but that would be a good question in one of the other threads where trading the pick is more discussed than the players available at 2-8.

“2023 NBA Draft” should be titled “Trading our 2-8 pick to get a significant upgrade.”

I think who we will get for those picks is appropriate for a thread with the tile, "...Players Dame doesn't want."

Feel free to make some suggestions. 2-8 is a wide range. It would depend which pick number it is.

My era's titles......."Clearest description in the most concise manner". This was everything except the "Enquirer".

Todays titles, driven by a lathering culture demanding drama, fiction, and emotion....

"Something interesting, but not actually true to make you click"
"Completely non-factual, but it backs your theory, so you click on it"
"Anything repeated constantly on social media, thereby becoming real".

Not trying to dog on the op, but where is the Dame quotes?

Agreed. Much like the projecting who they would take if they kept their pick, it probably makes the most sense to wait until after the lottery. Hopefully we get the #1 pick.

When Lillard refers to Shaedon being plenty of 19 year old the Blazers need, it doesn't necessarily mean he wants this year's 1st round pick traded for a vet. I think Damian was nicely referring to all the other young Blazers stuffed into Portland's roster simply because they have "potential".

Try not to gasp!!!1!

We will probably regret trading the pick 4 years from now....... but the bottom line is it has value. A lot of talent out there.

I agree, but the regret will likely end up comparing who the Blazers got in the trade vs the best player they could've selected. The reality is, we'll never know who Portland would've selected.

For example, had we traded the 2017 lottery pick for a solid starter, people would regret it because they could've kept it and had Bam or Mitchell. However, that solid starter would've been a much better get than Zach Collins.

I'm not sure how many drafts the Blazers have optimized their selection, but I'm guessing it's not very often. And that's not because they're bad at evaluating talent, that statement would be true for nearly every franchise.
