<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Friday the 13th of April 2029 could be a very unlucky day for planet Earth. At 4:36 am Greenwich Mean Time, a 25-million-ton, 820-ft.-wide asteroid called 99942 Apophis will slice across the orbit of the moon and barrel toward Earth at more than 28,000 mph. The huge pockmarked rock, two-thirds the size of Devils Tower in Wyoming, will pack the energy of 65,000 Hiroshima bombs -- enough to wipe out a small country or kick up an 800-ft. tsunami.</div>

I know the article said that they doubt it will happen, but all I have to say is we need to prepare for the worse.

How often do we hear this? Never happens...but if it does, 2036 is a long way to go.

It would really suck if there was a tsunami. One of my worst nightmares.

Hopefully Bruce Willis is still alive by then.

If not, I will trust my life to Jack Bauer. Dude can save us all from anything.

Have no fear. According to some "experts" the world will be gone by 2012, so we won't have to worry about 2036

The article said time travel is more feasible.(then nuking the asteroid)

Also I ment to say THREAT, lol at thread.

This reminds me of that "Greatest Risks to Planet Earth" segment that A.F or someone posted in the OT section a long while ago. This is sort of random, but National Geographic is seriously one of the most interesting and educational channels I've ever watched. I find it much better than the Discovery channel, which isn't even on my sattelite anyway. NG has some amazing shows, although they blow some things out of proportion.

I guess it's an attempt to catch the viewers' attentions. Shows such as the "Ultimate" Earthquake" and "Ultimate Tsunami" are very interesting but it's funny that while scientists on the show said these things had a very VERY low chance of happening anytime soon (by that I mean by millions of years), the promos of the shows were advertised like it could happen sometime soon.

Lol, thats literally the exact sentence I was going to type when I read the original post.

According to Nostradamous, I think World War III is supposed to happen sometime soon. I studied about the guy when I was in grade 8, some of his prophecies are quite interesting.

Do share. I don't feel like googling it.

lol, it's hilarious that the movie's influenced so many of us. Only problem is now I have that Aerosmith song stuck in my head.

Why do the media feel the need to put this kind of fear in us? I mean look at all the "serious" threats we've had in the last 10 years that havent come true: The Millenium Bug, Bird Flu, SARS, African Killer Bees etc. etc.

I'd like to know who the idiots are that come up with these theories are.

Didn't he make thousands of prophecies? I think they are called quatrains or something.

Nonono ! Chuck Norris will save all of us if he's still alive then.

I don't believe junk like this anyway. All things come to an end anyway. But I hope that I won't die before the age of 65.

If anything you all should worry about the New Madrid plate instead. lol

* Nostradamous predicted WW3 in 1999.

* Chuck Norris, for sure, will save the Earth.

There we go. Thanks for correcting me.

Nostradamus was full of sh*t. Anyone who believes in his 'prophecies' needs to get out more.

I find it interesting; although sometimes I think people go out of thier way to make his prohphecies "come true" by analyzing them in such a way that it matches a current event.

That is true...and some make up prophecies, like that he predicted 9/11.

I compare his stuff to people believing John Edwards can speak to the dead.

I'd be an old fart by then. If it does happen, as long as Im with my wife doing the dirty when we turn to dust, I'd die a happy man.

only if it is hitting L.A

IF you actually go to the nasa website, there are tons of huge asteriods that they track. Problem is, they are only mapping like 1% of the sky, there is probably alot more out there.

I'll make thousands of predictions and I'll get some right.

I hope that is actually true and you didn't copy that from Armageddon.
