Jefferson: 29 points 8-13 shooting, 4-5 downtown, 9-11 FT, 5 boards, 5 assists

Wallace: 8 points 3-9 shooting, 1-4 downtown, 1-2 FT, 4 boards, 4 assists, 1 blocked shot

Butler: 17 points 7-14 shooting, 1-3 downtown, 2-2 FT, 5 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals

Carter: 30 points 11-21 shooting, 2-2 downtown, 6-7 FT, 4 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 blocked shot

Food for thought.

Wallace played the Magic.

Butler played the Wolves.

Jefferson played the Pistons.

Carter played the Rockets.

I'll take either of the two guys that didn't have that great of games.

Actually I'll take any of the above. Preference or order doesn't really matter at this point.

Eh.. if I had a choice, I'd still take Caron first, Wallace second, Jefferson third and Vince fourth. Why does preference not matter now?

Any one of them would be a pretty significant upgrade.

I've actually been very surprised at the reaction many of the fans here have of Richard Jefferson. He's always been a pretty efficient player throughout his career. I think people are a little down on him because he isn't quite as flashy and big named as the other players mentioned. I would be happy with any of them, least with Vince Carter probably. We'd be lucky to Jefferson or Wallace and with an outside chance... Butler.

I want:

1. Butler
2. Wallace
3. Jefferson

I don't really want Vince, just because I don't know how he'll be at 35 making $17.5 million. I say 35 rather than 36, because he'll be an $18.9 million expiring his final season.

I looked at the boxscores and for each team they really don't have more than one back Up sF. Charlotte really doesn't have any SF's outside of Wallace. I know they list Radmanovic as one, but that is a stretch. They will hvae to have one in return

Keep in mind that this was Wallace's first game back since the rib/lung injury. He's gonna be a little rusty for a game or two.

I'm a little concerned about RJeff's history of injuries.

Games played in order of season...

79/80/82/33/78/55/82/55

No doubt. I'm not bashing the guy, I just thought it was interesting that all four played tonight, and I wanted to post their boxscores for a little perspective.

I just feel like we're in a loop on this topic.

While it is interesting, and I enjoy reading about the possibilities of the trade deadline as much as the next human, I think all this talk may be setting some up for disapointment. Something may go down, but I don't think it is a certainty like a lot of people seem to be thinking. We may end the second half of the season with the same people as we started. Just keep that in mind.

Butler in the last five years:
77/75/63/58 and five missed games this year

Wallace in the last five years:
70/55/72/62 and 11 games missed so far this year

Injuries happen.

He's had two semi injured seasons. The 55 and the 33. (The other 55 is this year which is ongoing.)

That's a pretty good history.

I wish I didn't have a preference, but I really want Wallace or Butler. I don't want Jefferson or Carter, as I think they're too old...among other things.

I would be okay with Jefferson, I guess. To this point, I didn't want Portland to trade RLEC/Outlaw for him, because I felt Portland could get more. If that proves not to be the case, sure, bring on Golden Child.

Caron Butler
Gerald Wallace

Vince Carter

Richard Jefferson

That's my order of preference, with drop-offs in desirability as indicated. But I'll be somewhat intrigued by any of them.

Meh, considering the cost of each player (Butler would obviously cost more than RJ, etc.), my preference is:

1a. Caron Butler

1b. Vince Carter

1c. Gerald Wallace

1d. Richard Jefferson

Honestly, any would help.

Heh, I'd like to pay more and get a better player. ;) I'm kind of interested in a consolidation deal in which Portland picks up one more high-level player who can be a part of the core. Butler and Wallace fit that.

Paying less for a short-term improvement, Carter or Jefferson, isn't a bad thing. Just less ideal to me.

At this point, any one of them would get me :ohno: in a good way, so whatever KP does, I trust him.

RJeff is 29 - NOT THAT OLD. My wish list would be

1) Butler
2) RJeff
3) Wallace
4) Carter

The only reason I rank Wallace over Carter is his contract. Wallace is fine, but he's always injurred. I like Vince, but he is 32 and you can't help but wonder if he'll fit in here. When he's not happy, he doesn't play hard (as we've seen before)

Comment and question about Vince:

Comment - He's having a great year.

Question - If he's making $18 mil a season for 2 seasons, does that not put us in great position in 2 years for a FA when he comes off the books? He might be a nice placeholder for a couple of years.

Is that accurate?

1) Butler
2) RJeff
3) Wallace
4) Carter

My raking exactly. Since I bet Butler is off the table, RJeff is the next best thing. He's an excellent balance of offense and defense. He immediately becomes the 2nd best player on the team if traded here.

Who was the last big FA the Blazers sign? The next big one will be the first. We build our teams through the draft and through trades, not FA. I really don't understand the NBA somtimes. Why does everybody "value" expiring contracts so much? So they can go out and spend a gazillion $$$ on FA's?? I guess you could argue that vince would be a trade assett in 2 seasons, but we haven't had much luck with those expiring contracts for young talent type of trades . . . yet!! Maybe we unload RLEC for somebody good.

It doesn't, because the team is going to shoot over the salary cap over the next two seasons. The extensions to Aldridge and Roy will be the primary things, though the current crop of rookies will all get more expensive year by year, and draft picks will eat more money.

In 2011, Carter's money coming off the books will just drop us down to "less over the cap."

However, at the 2011 trading deadline, he might have trade value as an expiring contract.

Yup yup, then we can bank on him getting injured and collect insurance money from it.

Then we swing him for a younger SF.

It is a vicious cycle. :D
