Predict Scoot's NBA Debut Stats

Paolo Banchero - 27 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks

Lebron James - 25 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals

Brandon Jennings - 17 points, 9 assists, 9 rebounds (55 points in his 7th NBA game)

Lamar Odom - 30 points, 12 rebounds 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks

Oscar Robertson - 21 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists

Wilt Chamberlain - 43 points, 28 rebounds.

Michael Carter-Williams - 22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds, 9 steals

That's an odd list of comparisons as none of them were 19 year old rookies except LeBron nor are most of these PGs.

I'd be interested in a list of PG drafted in the top 5 in the last ~15 years with 1 year or less of college. Wall/Rose/Westbrook/Fultz/LaMelo/DAngelo etc

2023 #3 Scoot Henderson
2023 #4 Amen Thompson
2022 #5 Jaden Ivey
2021 #1 Cade Cunningham
2020 #3 LaMelo Ball
2019 #2 Ja Morant
2019 #5 Darius Garland
2018 #3 Luka Doncic
2018 #5 Trae Young
2017 #1 Markelle Fultz
2017 #2 Lonzo Ball
2017 #5 De'Aaron Fox
2016 #5 Kris Dunn
2015 #2 D'Angelo Russell
2014 #5 Dante Exum
2013 #2 Victor Oladipo
2012 #3 Bradley Beal
2012 #4 Dion Waiters
2011 #1 Kyrie Irving
2010 #1 John Wall
2009 #3 James Harden
2009 #4 Tyreke Evans
2009 #5 Ricky Rubio
2008 #1 Derrick Rose
2008 #3 OJ Mayo
2008 #4 Russell Westbrook
2007 #4 Mike Conley
2005 #3 Deron Williams
2005 #4 Chris Paul
2005 #5 Raymond Felton
2004 #3 Ben Gordon
2004 #4 Shaun Livingston
2004 #5 Devin Harris
2003 #5 Dwayne Wade
2002 #2 Jay Williams

This is who it would be interesting to do comparisons of the first game and of the first year averages.

going by known Blazer examples, Scoot will have about 10 points and 5 assists. Portland will be down about 24 by 3rd quarter. Clippers will ease off the gas and bench starters. Scoot will have advantages in extended Keon Johnson garbage time. When the final buzzer sounds:

Scoot 38m, 18pts, 8ast, 5reb
Final: POR 112, LAC 123
a "fun & competitive" NBA game.

17 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals... oh and 4 turnovers.

I just realized one guy that was unfortunately omitted from that list--Ben Simmons.

This would be the best first game from any top-5 PG over the past decade, and it seems like most people expect Scoot to meet or beat this performance. We may want to temper our expectations.

even in that rookie season where Tyreke Evans averaged over 20ppg and over 5 rebs n over 5assists he had 10points in the first game...

But i'm still gonna say 20-5-5 and 2 steals... The most important player we wanna get rolling on offense is Ayton, i still think Scoot goes for 20 in game 1, give em 15fgas, to get some confidence..

Scoots game isnt really built for that sort of "I'm not feeling confident in my shot tonight so im gonna pass the ball around" type of 'off-night' he sorta probes the defense like steve nash used to do but with a very different set of skills and athletic grade, n so whatever happens happens, but plenty of times its gonna result in him dropping 20+ points

12 points
3 rebounds
6 assists

3-9 shooting, 1 three pointer and 3 free throws and some loud fan will act like he's a bust and will start a "should've taken one of the Thompson twins" thread.

And yes I realize 3-9 and 1 three pointer + 3 free throws doesn't = 12 points. Im too tired to care.

If Westbrook is playing, he will want to make Scoot’s life a living hell. The question will be if he decides to do it by out-scoring him, or if he’ll try to shut him down.

With that in mind…

16 pts (2/6 from 3)
6 assists
3 rebounds
4 turnovers
5 fouls

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE SCOOT! WHAT LILLARD DID TO NASH, YOU NEED TO DO WESTBROOK!

15 pts 10 dimes 5 boards 3 steals and 6 fouls all in the first 3 qtrs..the refs are going to be brutal against the young Blazers this season. That I expect.

The team as a whole is going to struggle in this game. The Clippers are healthy to begin the season and want to make a statement.
It's going to be ugly early. I am guessing Scoot will be in single digits in scoring, rebounds, and assists. (Hopefully in turnover as well) I see him in foul trouble as well

The 2nd game (at home) should be much better.

13 Points
4 Rebounds
6 Assists
1 Steal
0 Blocks
4 Turnovers

Some solid flashes of skill, and some learning moments on defense, turnovers, and fouls.

Yeah I intentionally didn't include him as he's so huge and always played with a small guard I never considered him a PG that should be compared to players such as Scoot. He may lead an offense and guard opposing PG so yes there's both legit arguments to consider him a PG or to not.
