What will the Blazers do at the trade deadline?

My preference would be to get Pau because he can help the team win now and still has a few years of good play that can help transition guys like Vonleh and Plumlee. I don't know that it will happen.

My prediction is a couple small moves maybe take on some contract(s) and play this season out.

Maybe just absorb David Lee's contract to get a post scorer. Could add Meyers as well and get one of their picks back.

My prediction is Kaman is moved for a pick or another 33 year old vet that fills more of a need on the bench
Isn't post scoring our biggest need? Are there any other vets we could trade Kaman for whom are better in the post than him?

Actual prediction? My prediction is no moves. Not my wish but that's what I see happening.

Blazers trade for Whiteside from the heat or Gorgui Dieng from the twolves along with some garbage contract ( that pesky cap space) for table scraps and some young talent it will be hard to say goodbye to.

My guess is that the Blazers will be a third party brought in to help facilitate another trade, and pick up a second rounder for their involvement. Boring, but I'm okay with that.

This team has proven that they deserve a chance to see what they can do as constructed, for the time being.

If I was betting I'd say we trade veteran cap space for a contract and second round picks.

I dont' see us really doing anything big because I think NO will either go for a big star or nothing at all really. I think we will try and use our space to acquire an asset or two but I don't really think that will happen. However we will be the subject of half the rumors out there because of our young players and our capspace.

Olshey isn't going to waste cap space absorbing a player who isn't a "Needle Mover" (tm). If he can't get someone legit he'll wait for the off season. I can however see him moving a player for a future asset.

Screamin' A says the Clippers are indeed shopping Blake.

I expect Neil to kick the tires.
In the end I think Neil will facilitate a trade for other teams with our cap and bringing back a second rounder.

I agree with this.

I'd be surprised if anyone gets moved. I'd be shocked if it was anyone but Henderson, Kaman or one of the end of the bench guys.

Neil has a history bringing in players he has ties with.

Yeah I definitely could see us making a move to bring Blake in. I guess the question is; will we give up CJ? Not sure we have the assets otherwise.

It would be a big risk for a player that can leave as a free agent next summer in 2017.

Something like this would be what I'd try if I'm Neil

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gw535rt

We get Blake Griffin
Clippers get Markieff Morris, Hendo, Meyers, PJ Tucker, $11mil trade exception, POR pick, PHX pick
Phoenix gets Vonleh, Kaman

Clips flip trade exception and picks for a vet in another trade. Gives us a lineup of;

Plumlee, Davis
Griffin, Harkless
Aminu,
CJ, Crabbe
Dame

Why couldn't C.J. leave in 2017? He probably won't but what if he wanted to be a leader like Dame is now, having his own team. That could be a risk too. Plus we have Allen Crabbe we can place in the starting SG position.

If the team pays them players don't leave coming off rookie contracts. Its never happened, ever.

Meyers is one of my favorite players in the NBA but I would do that deal. Kick ass if Neil pulled that off. If he traded Davis or CJ, though, I'd be very sad.

Yeah they're talking about Griffin being out for the year and then he would be a free agent after next season. Aren't a lot of teams that can help give up some vets, cap flexibility but also throw away this season. If Griffin is traded I think there's a real chance we're in the mix. Boston is another team but them being the possible #2 seed not sure if they give up this season. Knicks could try to get him if Melo waves his no trade.

Clippers aren't getting enough. Would have to give up Crabbe I'm afraid.

Griffin is a top 10 player when healthy, we are not getting him for old ass Kaman,Mayers and Henderson, FORGET IT!
