Blazers trade CJ + DJJ+ Ant + 2 firsts 2022 and 2024 for Ben Simmons.


Blazers trade Nurkić for Marcus Smart and a 1st to Celtics.

Blazers renounce rights to Zach Collins.

Blazers resign Powell.

The Blazers resign Melo to Vet min and use him sparingly.

Blazers renounce rights to Kanter.

Blazers sign a PF/C who can hit the three. There is an FA who fits the bill, Bobby Portis h/t to Blazerkor.

The blazers also sign Wenyon Gabriel.

As GM I let the money guy figure out how to pull this off and cast off anyone else for 2nd round picks to make this work.

SG Powell/Little/Eleby
SF Simmons/Little
PF RoCo/Melo/Portis/Giles
C Bobby Portis/Giles/Wenyon Gabriel

we could also experiment with Simmons at the 5 and Little as the starting 3.

Nance is under contract but Bobby Portis is a free agent.
 
Nothing. Sign Whiteside as a bench replacement for Kanter, AGAIN. Add some scrub third-stringer to the end of the bench and proclaim it's a NEEDLE MOVER, then complain when the team starts out 15-20 and say the coaching staff needs more time. Dame plots his exit.

I think Neil will look into acquiring a G league franchise for the Blazers to control...I'm hoping they start one in Eugene but probably will end up being in Seattle or Spokane
 
Over the past 12 months, Neil has turned Trevor Ariza, Rodney Hood, Gary Trent, and Derrick Jones (plus picks) into Norm Powell, Robert Covington, and Larry Nance.

Is that all deck-chair shuffling, or are these moves that significantly increase the Blazers' chances of contention?

I've been doing this thing the past few years where I'm judging non-star talent only by their ability to be on the floor and contribute in the fourth quarter of playoff games. I think all three of our additions qualify. We just got rid of our 10th guy for a guy who will possibly be our 6th/7th man. Losing picks sucks in a vacuum but we aren't in one with Dame in his prime. I'm OK with this move moreso than I was with giving up two picks for Roco.
