I'm not digging that player option on DJJ's contract. You're telling me we really couldn't do a longer deal/get a team option?
i think it was intentional with the Nurk extension pending

Not even trying to hit a 1/2 court shot....in the pre-season when shots don't count?
We finally found a shot Trent won't take. :bgrin:

He specifically said it was the single biggest selling point to come here. He had a few teams offering him the full MLE but no one else would give him that option and he believed that he could earn himself a raise.

It won't kick in until the season after. Why couldn't we just guarantee both years so that Nurk/Cov/DJJ's contracts all expired at the same time?

I read that article and I didn't read it as him wanting the PO. Just that our offer was "better" than other teams. Didn't say why.

It wasn't an article it was his initial interview... and I watched it. A reporter asked him what made him choose Portland and he said that there were multiple similar offers on the table, his agent got Neil to agree to the option and then he talked to his family and said it was a go. He then kind of backtracked and talked about a chance at starting, playing with Dame and shit like that. The first thing he said was the option.

Interesting.

Jones and Crowder signed for similar $$, but Jones is essentially a one year deal while the Suns have Crowder for 3 years guaranteed. Which team got the better deal?

Not that it really matters in the big scheme of things, but watching this hasn't encouraged me about Elleby's chances to be in the NBA even as long as Joel Freeland. He appears limited athletically. A guy like that has to be crafty but even more importantly has to make his open shots. He's missing and missing badly.

I’m sure Olshey thought about all of this and there is a reason why his deal is what it is. He thinks about this stuff 24/7 and isn’t kicking himself wishing he has considered a different deal.

Do you have the link? I went and listened to his initial interview and didn't hear where it was said.

Kent is a nice guy but I can’t figure out why people think he’s good at this. Sounds like just a dude off the street trying to do the job. Not memorable.
Calabro was doing a radio broadcast from the TV booth. Not a high bar

He's young and inexperienced... he'll be good eventually, it just might take a few years.
