The Blazers don't lose home openers. They've won 18 in a row.I expect Denver to annihilate the Blazers.
My boy is taking over PR for the Timbers and Thorns.
You wrong again my friendSomething tells me Whiteside is not a good fit on this team. Just my feeling
Same I trust our guysNot worried
It’s not official yet. Then why didn't they just say that?

and he better learn to stay with his man. That is one of the most interesting theories that I have seen on here.........OK, Look at it this way. The first game is at home against Denver. Denver is good. The Blazers do not want to give away any hint of how good the Blazers actually are, or anything that could help Denver at all plan against what is an unknown opponent in many ways.
The first regular season game is literally infinitely more important than any preseason game, which are worth zero.
It's possible Whiteside looks lost and disinterested by design. There's nothing to gain by showing Denver what Whiteside looks like at 100% effort.
I agree with you about Simons' defense. What really stood out for me is how slow he is to recover once he gets caught leaning the wrong way.Tolliver is still old. Not sure when he will get young again but it would help. My feeling is he won't get younger at all this year.
Mario can't shoot a three. Not really a loss because Turner couldn't either.
17 of the 22 Turnovers from three starters against a team that was sitting three starters isn't a good look at all. The worst part is 11 of them came from Lillard and CJ. I think as many as 8 of them came in plays trying to get Whiteside the ball or because Simons was out of position (Again).
Speaking of Simons? Yes he can shoot. It's nice to see him feeling good about the offense he can provide. However 26 minutes of him getting lost on defense and losing his man leading to WIDE OPEN looks from three is not gonna cut it. Scoring 13 while being a -15 on the court loses games. This kid has a bunch to learn. The first 20 games for Simons will beand he better learn to stay with his man.
There has been some talk about Zach at the Power Forward position. He did not hit the threes he took last night but we all know he can. My feeling is Zach can indeed play at the 4. He has the fire and the "Nasty" to be that guy. He can play tough inside and out. he blocks shots and has gained enough weight to have the size to bang with the big men. One huge thing for me is he makes his free throws. We all know free throws can make or break a season.
So last night was pre-season sure. This game though should have been better. Whiteside was 5-5 and he very well could have scored 30 if the guards could have figured out how to get him the ball? The turnovers will be an issue to start the season. New players need time to gel. Defense! Defense! Defense will be the key to starting this season because it's gonna be another 90 days before the offense can really get going.

They announced it at the game last night
Call me Lucky Charm...The Blazers don't lose home openers. They've won 18 in a row.
Yeah, they announced he was leaving for another franchise, without saying the name.
Oh, I must've missed that. The initial time they talked about it they said it like it was hush hush. They said timbers

Nah, since we didn't lose to the Lakers last year in LeBron's debut then the streak can't be jinxed. Now you jinxed them

This team looks like a team that will win 45 games. Thus my prediction #45WinsMy wife and I went to the game last night and I left pretty bummed out. For a preseason game, that felt as close to a regular season loss as one game can be without it impacting the standings. I understand it's pre-season, but this is two games now, both at home and against opponents without their best players, where Portland has look frankly disinterested in playing. For a team coming off their first WCF appearance in 19 years, I would have expected a little more urgency and tenacity right out of the gate, especially with all of the national media outlets predicting them to have a down year. The turnovers and overall sloppy play is to be expected to an extent given the team is incorporating so many new faces, but what I can't sit back and accept is the lack of hustle. The defensive rotations last night were downright atrocious. Aside from CJ and sparks from Baze, the rest of the team was moving at half-speed. We simply are not talented enough to think we can flip the proverbial switch and perform like we did throughout the playoffs. If that happens, we're going to see a repeat from the 2016-17 season where we came off an unexpected trip to the Conference Semi-Finals only to scrap and claw our way to the 8th seed before getting dispatched in four against the Warriors. IIRC, we likely were lotto bound that season had Nurk Fever not taken over down the stretch as well.
To make it clear, I'm not calling for anyone to be fired or traded, but it's not great when you're already asking yourself, "It's preseason, but should I be concerned?" just a week removed from Fan Fest.
