I'd invite you to read "The Business of Health" by Robert Ohsfeldt & John E. Schneider. When you remove things that are not health care related (e.g., homicides, traffic accidents, etc.) the US goes to first in the world in terms of life expectancy. Our life expectancy is dragged down by the fact we have so many more murders than other developed countries and because we have more cars, we have more fatal accidents.

Haven't you ever heard how our government works? Every government agency gets money, sometimes more than they need. Well, they have to spend it even if they don't need it so they get as much or more likely MORE next year.

We have these nice new walls lining the freeway here in Vegas. They are pretty and painted with designs and shit on the inside where speeding traffic wouldn't get to see them except traffic is usually going at a snail's pace.

The best thing about them is that you can't see what traffic is like ON the freeway unless you drive up the off ramp and get stuck in it. I am pretty sure it was government planners that decided it was ok to build Casinos 50 feet from 3 lane highways years ago. Now they can't expand because there is no room. GUBMINTS GENIUSSEESESES

Government works NO miracles. Never has and never will. Our military is the one thing they do decently and that is because of the types of people who join the military. They aren't greedy scum suckers like Bush and Obama and Biden and Clinton and Cheney and the rest of the assholes.


The government should do these things...

Military
Infrastructure
Protect citizen's rights
Keep people like me from sneaking in the military base and launching nukes at Iran and Canada and Mexico.

I have had two traffic tickets and no accidents in 20 years of driving and now I can't drive legally because the stupid ass moronic government decided they should send my ID in the fucking mail. Well it didn't make it to my house. If it did, some illegal immigrant probably stole it. You know, the ones who have been tagging the walls around my house every day for six months. The ones who are too numerous to fit comfortably in the house across the street so they take shifts hanging out on the front porch. I shit you not. It can be 115 degrees outside and there are 8-12 of them drinking beer on the front porch. They throw bottles in the street and yell ****** at my black neighbor every day when he walks by. But hey, they can vote too so I am totally screwed because I doubt they will vote for anything to fix illegal immigration.

I have to get up early tomorrow and go stand in line for 2 more hours trying to get it straightened out. THE GOVERNMENT FUCKING SUCKS

What would you have preferred? To stand in line at the DMV to pick it up? The problem with that is it costs more money (and you don't like paying taxes) and inconveniences everyone. Sending it in the mail is cheaper and more convenient - except when it fails, as in your case. So now you have to go stand in line at the DMV, like you would have had to do if they hadn't mailed it. But those citizens who were luckier won't be there in line with you, so maybe it'll be shorter?

I sympathize with your frustration, but it isn't clear to me what the gummint could have done better. Maybe send the license certified mail? Fedex? Implant everyone with a chip at birth so that the government can keep track of us electronically and thus we don't need to carry licenses?

The last time I got my driver's license on the spot. They changed it so it is harder to forge or something along those lines. Certified mail would be fine with me.

What am I supposed to do if someone stole it and is out there using it for God knows what?

You don't think they could make one spot at the DMV for people picking up their new licenses? I would rather wait 15 minutes in line than wait one month hoping my license shows up in the mail all the while worrying about what it is being used for.

The post office doesn't even claim to deliver 100 percent of the mail they take in, that doesn't even account for what gets stolen directly out of mailboxes.
