Yes. We need more modern day California politicians running things. What could possibly go wrong?

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/california-considers-charging-residents-tax-190318852.html

You mean that state that has the highest population and yet somehow still had among the quickest growing economies in the country?

What a crazy idea, putting people that represent a large population with good track record in charge...

Almost everything has an exception but with 350 million people in this country we can risk skipping Californians.
Would you have been happy skipping Ronald Reagan?
I don't see the wisdom in ruling out any group of qualified people whom the people want.
I say, let's leave it up to the voters to choose as long as it's legal.

That's fine. Acting like the politicians in California are some kind of geniuses because they inhabit the prime real estate of the USA is the problem

Move every single Californian to Wyoming and let's see what happens.

I'm sure people will just die trying to move to Wyoming after it also becomes Heaven on Earth thanks to the Laker fans.

Maybe someone in Wyoming is better. How about letting the voters decide? Isn't that our system of government?

Your article points to 2 things:

1. There is a pension problem which is really from past generations and not one from the current leadership,

2. California somehow is not doing something to spur the economy to solve it.

Pretty much every state has a pension issue of some sort - and it is a legacy of past politicians.
California actually took some measures to reign it going forward (CalPers was ratified in 2012)

Point #2 is disproved by my post about California's roaring economy - even if the author goes on a rant about some silly small law issues a nd how it impacts restaurant owners. Every state has- (it is illegal to lie on a sidewalk in Nevada for some reason, I saw someplace).

I am saying that it is absolutely idiotic to say "never California" because of arcane tax codes - while ignoring the fact that it had worked very well in the last decade to crush the huge deficit it inherited from the past Republican governors.

We should sell California to China.

At least we could pay off the national debt, we didn't get shit for Trump selling the White House to Russia.

So, once again, you ignore the fact that current California politicians are the ones that brought it so much forward from where it was during the last decade and penalize them for mistakes of past administration.

Sorry, but this logic is absurd.

I can post lists of rankings too:

The logic that ANYTHING California does or does not do that works for California would work on a national level is absurd.

They have the best land and the best weather in the country. Again, if you transplanted every person and every business from California to Wyoming they'd leave faster than you can imagine.

Here's an analogy that might help. Say a struggling Bed and Breakfast in Brush Prairie Washington hires Steve Wynn as CEO and they implement paid parking and huge resort fees...would you be surprised if it didn't work?

I've been all over Anaheim and LA, Santa Monica and Long Beach. I bought my orange SVT in San Diego and drove it back to Vegas.

If someone from Vegas says California looks like a giant wasteland, that should tell you something.

The same goes for any other state. So should we elect a president from someplace else? Kenya maybe?

Tells me the person from Vegas is projecting.

So, the current administration inherited a giant budget deficit and a sputtering economy for a large population and managed to turn the economy around.

  • California Gov. Jerry Brown signs his last budget, a $201 billion plan with a surplus of almost $9 billion compared with a large deficit he inherited back in 2011.
Somehow this is something that is not good for the country in general? Should we have the current administration that in 2 years managed to increase the deficit twice as much in 2 years as the Obama administration did in 8 - despite the fact that they did not have recession to come out?

I am sorry, but I am not buying this reasoning at all.

All I am hearing is anecdotal evidence that completely ignores the actual achievements. You are managing to miss the forest for the shrubbery.

If California is so great why are so many Californians moving to Oregon?

Check out Kentucky's pension problem if you want to see serious trouble.
Oregon really doesn't have much of a problem.

No, but Democrat voters do, and I'm in favor of the Dem party's demise, so please "stay the course".
We need new parties...for instance, if the Libertarians solicited Robert DeNiro, they could at least have a recognized candidate.

Republicans need to figure that out. They're in charge of this shutdown. They'll just pass a continuing resolution so they kick this can down the road.

Drumpf wants funding for his wall....

Well FUCK OFF you colicky man baby!

I thought Mexico was paying for it!
Colon problems are just the beginning with this jack ass.

I give Nancy credit for telling the media to loose the obsession with Trump. More politicians on both sides need to ask the media to be more focussed on policy rather than ratings. She also agreed that Trump bashing has been good for network ratings.
