You're over thinking things. KP has fallen out of favor with Paul Allen, simple as that -- the specific reason(s)? Who knows, but it's clear that the man at the top no longer feels confident in KP's ability to manage his team.

PA is dealing with Cancer right now, I don't think it's possible for anyone to understand the state he is in let alone who he is in favor of. This fact alone makes me doubt all the drama

I don't agree with that at all. The reason Holmgren was outed in Seattle is that he wasn't getting it done. Holmgren was trying to do way too much as both GM and coach and couldn't handle the load. I don't know who really could, that is way too much for one human being to do. So they demoted him from the GM position so he could concentrate on coaching, which he did for quite a while after being demoted from the GM spot.

So, I don't see any similarities besides Vulcan being involved. To be honest, I think they made the right decision in Seattle. Holmgren wasn't getting it done.

Agreed... Holmgren had pretty much all the power and then they took some away, and then they ultimately went in another direction. The man is a legend, but he didn't win enough in Seattle.

KP is in the beginning stages of his career and has, I think most would agree, a pretty good track record of building this team to win now and into the future. He's got good guys and (my complaints notwithstanding) not too many ridiculous contracts.

I hope that this is much ado about nothing.

It's really that simple. If he says this, drama over, but his silence is deafening right now.

That's like saying a college graduate has yet to prove he can rise to the top of his industry. Isn't that a little meaningless before he's actually had a chance to do so? Pritchard spent a few years turning a trainwreck into a very promising roster. This was really the first year that any expectations beyond just making the playoffs were reasonable, and then there was a wave of injuries.

So considering he's only so far had a chance to do the rebuilding phase, and has done that pretty excellently, I don't see how it's useful to claim he hasn't yet proven he can get a team "over the hump." He and the team are only now entering the stage where that's possible.

The team won 21 games the season before Pritchard took over, made the plaoffs 3 seasons later, and will make the playoffs again.

What an unfair criticism. If Pritchard had taken over, say, the Lakers, then I'd give your criticism a listen. Instead, I am forced to mock it.

The Jazz should fire Jerry Sloan. He's had 20+ years of not getting teams over the top.

He's built a team that went from the shithouse and thousands of empty seats to the playoffs and 100+ sellouts in three years. If you and the Vulcans can't recognize that achievement, then I think both of you deserve what I think is coming down the pipe for this franchise once Allen's sister takes over the reigns.

There is no reason to rally towards keeping him on board, and there is no reason to rally for him to be fired. I guess I just don't understand what this is all about. There is simply no pleasing you. Are you one of those who thinks you'd do a better job? I just don't see how any true fan thinks that the GM position is easily replaceable. It's like the Patterson era never happened.

The worrying part is not just losing Pritchard per se.

It's the way the team is being run from the top. That's at the heart of all of this. It's a joke.

Kevin Pritchard deserves to be GM of the Portland TrailBlazers right now. End of.

According to some of the rumors, doesn't KP want an extension? A statement like that would hurt Allen's leverage in extension talks. I just don't think we can read too much into the silence. You may be right, but there are other explanations.

Pritchard is under contract through next season. Not really a bold statement, then; rather, it's just stating the obvious if the idea is to keep Kevin.

I think the Holmgren discussion must have been about him coming back to be the GM after they fired Ruskell. Holmgren was stripped of his GM duties 7 years ago or so. And they subsequently won 5 straight NFC West championships, and had their first ever super bowl appearance. As a coach, Holmgren was awesome in Seattle, period. Holmgren retired from coaching, he wasn't forced out. The fact that PA didn't bring him back as GM or some executive of football operations is extremely strange. Holmgrenn wanted the job. Something happened there for sure.
