Politics Pro Trump protester knocked out at PDX

My fear is that these angry anti-Trump people are going to keep getting worked up into a fervor, and pushing the Trump supporters and shitting on people who they perceive to be pro-Trump, and the "white trash NASCAR loving rednecks" are going to come back with guns. I know there are a lot of anti-government types who are just itching for a reason to fight. All it's going to take is one militia group getting fed up and organizing a coordinated attack on an anti-Trump rally. There could be hundreds of casualties, if not thousands depending on how many people show up with guns. This is how wars begin.

The Boston Massacre.

2/3rd? Sorry, but that's not correct at all.

The only people performing the anarchy and violence are the "peaceful protesters" who are your among your ilk.

Trump's administration requires people follow the laws, apparently your so called "2/3rds" had free reign the last 8 years.
Technically only 25.5 percent of the voting population voted for Trump.

Technically only 25.5 percent of the voting population voted for Trump.

That means nothing in context to what was actually stated. And yes that means around 90 million people didn't vote. So claiming 2/3rds Americans don't support Trump is incorrect and unprovable.

More precisely and provable would be to take numbers from the people who actually voted. But even then you'd need to repoll everyone to make the claim that he did.

This all sucks.....idiots are in abundance...Tpup should never have to be targeted for a red hat...reminds me of when my ship docked in San Diego coming back from war....hippies protested us as we got off the boat...many having not been home for a long time...signs about baby killers, etc....having short hair back then was target enough......the war was wrong but sometimes the costumes don't really disguise the fact that assholes can attach themselves to any crowd and probably will. Let's hope things calm down.......my biggest fear is that we're going to have Marshall Law and lots of uniforms in the streets...stop and frisk was a campaign promise too.

I think voting in a democratic election proves "support". 25.5 percent supported Trump. Unless you want to use alternative facts.

Actually my original point (which admittedly wasn't particularly clear) is that the majority of Americans either did not vote for Trump or they did not vote at all. So basically, Trump is pushing policy for a minority of voters. I don't think that is arguable. Of course the same could be said for pretty much any president who didn't win by a landslide.

That was not the experience of Steve and Cindy Spinnett, Trump supporters who also went to PDX on Sunday to thank the president "for keeping his promises to the American people," Steve Spinnett wrote in an email to The Oregonian/OregonLive.

"We saw this as an opportunity to take signs that said 'Thank You President Trump,'" he wrote.

The couple said things were rough at first and that their presence was not immediately welcomed by the large group of protesters, but after some conversation, both sides appeared to soften.

"At first we ran into resistance from some protesters, but as we spoke to them, we could see they were sincere about their beliefs," Steve Spinnett said.

"We told them they were sincere and were glad to see them out there expressing their beliefs. We then warmed up to each other," he continued, noting that, before all was said and done, the couple posed for pictures with some of those from the other side.

"We agreed that loving one another was more important than our disagreements politically," he said.

These people are smarter than many of you.

Interesting.

I understand that. But you're building a straw man argument. We were initially never talking about just the voting population. So you can snark all ya want about alternative facts bro but the initial claim by UCD was 2/3rd of Americans.

After making it more clear, you could say that about any candidate that gets voted in.

Trump got 25.5 and Hillary was probably like 25.9 while the other 50 neglected to let their voice be heard.

I disagree with the claim that he's pushing policy for the minority because nobody knows how the other 50% of the population feels exactly.

Yes, and don't you forget it! You're obviously compensating for your alt-right Nazi style facism lol

I'm compensating for having to learn to walk 3x. Once as an infant and twice more later in life from serious injuries. If I lean one way or the other it's because of nerve damage.....just happy to be able to type.

@SlyPokerDog
did you catch the news at 6 today?
it showed these pro-trump supporters before they went to the airport.

Nope. Were they goose stepping in unison as they saluted their fuhrer?

IDK how to search it, but apparently they went to a couple churches looking for a confrontation. Before they went to the airport.
News said it was a couple catholic churches they went to, megaphoning at brown people.
News interviewed pastors of two churches.

Don't like the violence, but as I've been around parents tell their younger children who want to wrestle with their older brother/sisters.
"If you go and wrestle with them, and get hurt. Don't come crying to us because they hurt you."

Denny will say the churches are butthurt.

The dude that got knocked out was screaming "YOU HATE GOD" from inches away, into people's faces with a bullhorn. Does that not constitute a punch in the face? I think it does. Don't scream anything in my face with a fucking bullhorn.

Heavens, no! That would extremely foolish.

These people are smarter than many of you.

Interesting.

Really? The dude with knit hat, you mean? The lady with the thank you sign might be. But I don't know about the diversity lady either. I wonder if she knows what the word is.

11 mins: Riot cop shoots rubber bullets at anti Trumper.

12 mins: More cops shoot rubber bullets at anti Trumpers.

Shit is intense.

Did anyone watch the longer video? What were the cops shooting?

Not a violent one.

A peaceful revolution against the political establishment at the voting box, which we won.

Ironic that the only violent protesters in America now are protesting FOR the establishment.

How times change.

This.

Liberals have clearly lost their fucking marbles.

I am so ashamed and embarrassed that I once called myself a Liberal. I actually had a bumpersticker years ago that said "Liberal and a Gun Owner".

Can you believe this shit? Some woman actually had a child with this loser. And instead of being a father, he's out there destroying property and beating up the mother of his child.

What a great father figure, huh?

This is why there was such a silent number of Donald Trump voters. People just want to vote for who they want to, but they don't want to get harassed and beaten.

There you go. There's no way in hell I'd go to any protest in support of Trump. No fucking way; it's too dangerous.

I'll stick to supporting him online and through my vote.

Wow. So the guy defending the assault says "don't bring a megaphone" to a protest and assumes it was the victims fault? What in the actual fuck?
Regardless of what side you are on, violence should never occur and people should be barred from protesting at airports. Completely fucked up.

Again, this is the result of identity politics, labeling people you don't agree with, with extreme labels such as racist, bigot, xenophobe, in order to use that label as a justification to attack someone. Absolutely pathetic.

Edit: I see the new label is "Nazi" & "fascist" now......

Identity politics has destroyed the social fabric of this country.

Butt hurt's been around forever. That has nothing to do with politics. The other two, are nowhere close to the effects of calling someone a racist, bigot, nazi, fascist, or xenophobe and you know that. Furthermore, this whole entire extreme-labeling thing started from the left, as soon as Trump won nominations. Liberals started lumping everyone who was a conservative into the racism camp which has now morphed into being called a Nazi. Ever seen a Republican call someone a libtard and use that as justification to shoot someone, or assault them? Likely not. But on the reverse it's completely different, videos galore of liberal left violence; now whether that violence is started by the anarchists is unknown, but evidence seems to show otherwise.

Being called a racist/nazi is exactly why Trump won. The silent citizens just watched, listened, got upset by being called shit like that and voted.

Well said.

This. These aren't Trump supporters out there destroying property and beating up anyone who doesn't conform to their way of thinking. And it's NOT a minority of Leftists either: this is the majority. You only have to look at the comment section of any article about politics or Trump to see it.

There is also a large part of the right that is unhinged. Neither party has a monopoly on crazy.

One does have the monopoly with the support of the MSM though. The MSM loves rioting and protesting Leftists.

I do completely agree that there are those on the Right who are batshit crazy. They tend to be the same idiots who believe Sandy Hook was a hoax.

But with the exception of a lone white guy shooting up either a mosque (Canada) or a black church (Dylann Roof), it does not happen with the same frequency that the Left riots and destroys property/attacks people. It just doesn't, Sly. These protests (which inevitably turn into riots or attacks on innocent people) are happening on a daily basis at an alarming rate.

Like I said: I'm well aware that there are crazies on the Right. No argument there. But there is simply no comparison to how the Left has behaved over the past 8 or so years, with the invention of Identity Politics by Obama, to how the Right has behaved overall. The Right has been far more civilized.

It's unfortunate what this has come to. I was harassed downtown and couldn't figure out why until someone knocked off my had as they were yelling at me. It was a Doernbecher Children's hospital hat.....which happened to be red. The poor ignorant/clueless/hysterically mad idiots took one look at the color and started in on me. It caught me off guard because I had no idea what they were so upset about. Apparently because it was red, they thought it was a Trump Make America Great again and didn't pause 2 seconds to realize the writing on it was for a local children's hospital.

Idiots!

I'm sorry this happened to you, but I appreciate the work you do for children. Keep it up.

My fear is that these angry anti-Trump people are going to keep getting worked up into a fervor, and pushing the Trump supporters and shitting on people who they perceive to be pro-Trump, and the "white trash NASCAR loving rednecks" are going to come back with guns. The Boston Massacre.

I really hope this doesn't happen. I want these protests to remain as peaceful as possible on both sides.

But it wouldn't surprise me if it does.

And no, you won't see me out there joining in. As appealing as it is the thought of putting a bullet into a member of the Anarchist Backpack Brigade, staying out of prison and handling things at the voting booth and the legislature is far more preferable to me.

See? Just when I start to get my hackles up and my ire stirred....you go and post stuff like this that makes me sigh in happiness and peaceful contentment.

Damn you Sly!

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A third straight day of protests in Portland over President Trump’s executive orders on immigration began at noon Thursday.

Hundreds of people gathered at Terry Schrunk Plaza for the “No Ban, No Wall” protest, which was organized by the non-profit group Unite Oregon.

...

A community member flagged down police at the event to alert them of a passenger in a pickup truck who allegedly displayed a handgun while driving past the plaza.

Officers saw the car circling the area and conducted a traffic stop at SW 4th Avenue and Salmon Street, according to Portland Police Bureau.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident. Officers searched the car and found the handgun, which turned out to be a replica, in addition to an unloaded AR-15 style rifle that belonged to the driver.

The passenger, 20-year-old Sergey E. Antonov, was arrested and booked into Multnomah County Jail for second-degree disorderly conduct.
