I'm in the middle of you two guys on Yandle. No way would I say they aren't signing him period. But I also don't see the way we can afford to pay him 5.5/6 mill per.
With that said, who cares right now. Focus on this season and this playoff run. We are one of the top teams in the NHL hands down, so let's focus on that not bicker about Yandle's value or Staal/Girardi's NMC's.
Yandle is starting to get comfortable and play his game now. He has been shooting a lot more, which was 100% necessary. In 17 games as a Ranger he has 9 points, which is a 43 or 44 point pace over 82 games. And since most of the points have come in his last 8 games (8 points over that span), it is safe to say he would be that 50 + point dman here over a full season. He is also a + 7 in his 17 games here. All good stuff. Once he truly gets comfortable I think the PP will improve. The key there is Yandle must shoot the puck. That is how he truly becomes a threat and makes our PP more dangerous.
Boyle and Yandle have really hit their stride recently, and once Klein comes back, late next week (Thursday or Saturday) or worst case game 1 of the playoffs, our D will be so good. Exciting stuff.
