Prospect update. Is a star being born in our system?

Has anybody noticed that Dale Weise has 8 G and 12 A. He's 26 now. This is what I always said about players like Immonen and Helminen. If teams stay with these guys in the NHL for a few years who are highly productive in the NHL, sometimes they figure the NHL out and become good role players. He may never do this again but it's always interesting to see a player take 3-4 years then suddenly produce in the NHL.

Tambellini is having a heck of a year now. Because of his size, if he can get up to about 210 with muscle, he might have a higher upside than Buchnevich and Duclair.

Tambellini seems like he has smarts being in a hockey family and could be a solid 3rd liner. I still wouldn't rule out using him in a good dl deal either though as has pretty decent value compared to Kristo most others. If you package him with Moore and a 2nd thats a good base for a UFA.

I think Tambellini has more upside than a 3rd liner. He's 9th in the WHL in scoring and almost all of the guys ahead of him are shrimps. Kind of small players that almost never make the NHL. He had 1G 1 A last night.

Ducliar had a 4 point night. Graves had 1 G 1 A. He now has 13 goals 16 A in 39 games. An incredible offensive jump from his previous years.

Kristo has actually been playing well. He's been hot and now has 17 G. Lindberg had 1 G, 1 A. He's up to 16 goals now. Seems like McIlrath has played at a pretty high level down there for the past month.

Agree dump regarding big mac. Most reports and comments I've seen over past 2 months have said he is hands down Hartford's best d-man. Here is recent comment I found:

Rangers obviously have big decision to make with him as he has to go thru waivers if not on the big team next season and no way he makes it thru waivers. Therefore either rangers trade him at the deadline which I'm hoping they don't do or make him a part of defense next season as he can't go to hartford except for conditioning and I don't see the rangers losing him for nothing. They are in cap hell and need to sign guys like stepan, zucc, hags and msl. Wonder if the rangers either sell high on Klein or convince Boyle who is playing on fumes to either pick another team he'd like to finish his career with or retire. Would be a shame if Mac is not traded at the deadline and lost because Boyle on the team one year too long for a young kid who after all these years looks like he would be a contributor (and a cheap one at that) to the team. And those of you thinking Brady is the next d-man up he's had a tough season in college and is a lefty D meaning unless av has a change of heart he doesn't put lefty D's on the right side or vice versa.

Agree with the above analysis. McIlrath has made a 360 turn-around
& is better than last year. It's taken a few years, but I think he lands on the
parent team next year. I was really down on him last year; he looked lost.
I guess it takes time before a player "gets it".

Chuck, I would hate to see our only ready RD in the system who costs a dollar traded for a rental player. But unfortunately, that may be the case.

Our top 4 D are signed long term. If McIlrath still has good value, and dealing him gives us what we need to win a cup...see ya.

McIlrath will never play on this team for AV. He doesn't have any offense in his game and AV requires some offensive skill from his dman. He's the physical dman we NEED on this team, but AV doesn't want that type of player. McIlrath should 100% be tradeable for us to get a good return.

Let us hope Sather doesn't do something incredibly stupid like trade Graves, Skjei or Walcott because he figures his core is set with Girardi, McDonagh, Staal and Klein. To me, 3/4 of that core will start showing age in about 2-3 years.

2 to 3 years from now...sorry dump but there will always be some second rounder that will come out of no where...some new prospect that will replace the last prospect...we cant keep thinking about 2 to 3 years from now....

staying in the middle of the pack is what has hurt this organization for so many years...you either need to win it or completely rebuild

interestingly enough, when i saw the 'Pack game this past weekend they had McIlrath on the PP unit on the off wing for the one-timers. Not much to see there, unfortunately, as his shot sucked, to put it plainly.

Couldn't agree with you more Al. Respectfully I disagree with dump on this. Hank is 33 now. Nash in his prime. Cannot worry about a 2nd rounder or a pick in the 20's right now. We need to win a cup within the next 2 or 3 years. That is the focus.

With that said I would not deal Skjei, Miller, Buch, or Duclair. Everything else down below is on the table.

got to win the first cup before worrying about winning more than 1 cup...there is being strong and then there is putting yourself in position to win that cup. two cup runs by the kings were ignited by huge trades...you have to give to get....

ill give the future ...NOT ALL OF IT....to get a better chance right here and now...

if we have 2 grade a prospects and say 4 grade b prospects...they all wont pan out...give up something and roll the dice when your known quantities...the Nash, The kings, MSL...these guys are one or two players away from the chance to put their names on the cup.

If we wait....then you have to hope those 1 or 2 grade a prospects becomes the next nash..or the next hank...role players are a dime a dozen...top end talent doesn't come around too often so when you have it..you cash in...

Graves now with 14 G 18 A, +15. Lots to like there with a 6'4 defenseman with a 102 mph slapper. Tambellini, 66 GM, 44 G 32 A, +43. Awesome year for the kid. Walcott, 52 GM, 7 G, 33 A, +18. Plays against all the teams top lines. Another top defenseman prospect.

He wasn't playing enough. I liked the fact he went to juniors. College coaches don't seem to have patience to develop raw prospects like Tambellini. They also like to play small, waterbugs who score more rather than take the time to develop bigger frame players who need to fill out.

Duclair hasn't not been the same player since sent back to juniors. He's probably bored. Rangers really need to hit on some wingers in the next few drafts.

Graves now has 15 G, 24 A. 39 points in 49 games. Looking like a future part of our defense core. Of course the morons in the media refuse to even acknowledge him. Tambellini has 47 G, 39 A, 86 points in 70 games. Walcott 7 G, 34 A, 41 points in 54 games. Lindberg 20 G, 22 A, 62 games.
