PORTLAND — Whether it was a knee surgery, an indefinite sidelining, or an avalanche of condemnation from those who said he'd never be the same — Blazers guard Brandon Roy has pummeled through challenges one after another this season.

But Tuesday night in the Rose Garden, he may have issued himself the toughest one yet when he said this: "I try to stay even keel with everything going on."

Stay even keel, huh?

It's tough to suppress your highs when you beat the Mavericks 104-101 like the Blazers did Tuesday. It can't be easy for Roy flat-line his emotions when he scores 21 points in 27 minutes, resembling his former All-Star self as much as he has all season.

And considering Portland has gone 5-0 in its most recent meetings against San Antonio, Chicago, Miami, Orlando and Dallas — there can't be much this team can do to prevent its adrenaline from bursting through the dam.

Comments such as these from NBA TV analyst Chris Webber aren't helping: "The Blazers will upset whoever they play in the first round of the playoffs."

A touch over-reactionary? Maybe so. Especially seeing how Tuesday's victory seemed anything but inevitable in the opening quarter.

One consistent point with all these games has been LA beasting. That one stat I keep going back to is our record whenever he scores > 20pts. We're 31-11!

Against Texas teams (overall record: 4-4 over the season), he's put up something like 27pts, 9rebs, 2asts, 1stl, 1blk, on like 54+% shooting. He's totally become our #1 option.

its been a while since Math class... and not trying to be a snob, this is an honest question.. but wouldnt it be

< 20 points?

I thought the alligator eats the bigger number lol.

Nope.

> is greater than. < is less than.

What you're saying is that what he scored is LESS THAN 20 pts.

Edit: Alligator? LOL, we're not in 4th grade, man.

That's a heck of an accomplishment when you think about it. Factor in that they should have beaten LA in their last game as well, and you have to conclude that this team can play with anybody when they're clicking. We all know what can happen when they're not clicking.

and now that I am a little more awake I can see that I missapplied the Alligator theory.. It would have been eating the bigger number lol. Damn you all!

As long as we aren't playing Atlanta in the Finals, I like our chances! LOL

the blazers are 0-1 in the last 1 games vs teams with losing records :(

The Blazers are the anti-Heat. The Heat stomp the bad teams, lose to the good ones. The Blazers beat the good teams and lose to bad ones.

Bodes well for the playoffs.

Actually, 20 points is a below average night for Aldridge. He is averaging 22.4 PPG for the season. Here's the team's records when Aldridge scores above and below his seasonal average:

>=23 PTS, 25-7 = .781
<= 22 PTS, 13-22 = 0.371

So, when Aldridge scores above his average of 22.4 PPG, the Blazers win at a pace that would put them a game and a half behind the Spurs for the No. 1 seed in the west and best record in the league. When Aldridge is held below his average the Blazers are a lottery team with a worse winning percentage than the Clippers.

Clearly, Aldridge is the key to this team's success. Yes, it's nice to see Roy being productive and nice to have Gerald Wallace, but the coach and team needs to remember what wins them games. Get Aldridge the fucking ball in the post and everyhinng else is easy. He either scores at efficient rate, or draws the double team which creates open shots and open lanes for his teammates. Note to Nate: FEED THE LaBEAST!!!
