Regardless of what may happen. If Pryzbilla joins our club, I think he will instill toughness. The thing that seriously pissed me off last playoffs, was the other team bullied us and we didn't retaliate. I was waiting for someone, anyone to smash J.J. on the floor the next time he tried driving in the paint.

We just don't have a player like that. Even if Pryzbilla is a former shell of a player than we are accustom to; he will bring toughness. He will jaw in the ear of our big men to bully the other team.

I remembered on time Aldridge went to help up some player and Pryzbilla grabbed his hand and jawed in his ear. Don't fucking help him up. That's the mentality of a winning team. It's not that you hate the other team... It's more of we aren't Mr. Nice Guys and you are gonna have to earn points in the paint. We won't get bullied and we won't back down.

So if Pryzbilla only plays 8-10 minutes a game; it could easily be minutes to teach our other bigs to be BIGS!

He will also bring more moving screens. I've missed those since he's been gone.

Rant. Moving screens, inability to make a FREE throw, allowing the defense to play 5 on 4. Yay

You talk like he will be playing significant minutes on this team... Camby is the starter. Camby gets injured. Eventually we want Oden to be the starter and we need some bigs to help fill that load until we know for sure Oden can play. It's pretty simple really. Pryzbilla's free-throws were much improved the last 3 seasons. Oh and P.S. The D always played 5 on 4. Having Hayes or Landry would still give us the same problem. NEXT....

Our third string center will play way more than the two in front of him. I don't want that to be Prz

Dude Przybilla is done....He has progressively got worse the last few years, on the downside of his career and coming off multiple significant injuries....

That being said, the idiots in the Blazer Organization probably will try and sign him.....Apparently they think that Roy & Przybilla are the same players they were 3 years ago.....

Filling in the paint and taking a firm stand. Not giving up free buckets and effecting shots. Getting in people's heads. Igniting a fire under his teammates.

I agree with all of those, before the injury.

Wrong. Prz played arguably the best basketball of his career during the 07-08, 08-09, and 09-10 seasons before he was injured. He looked like shit last year because he hadn't had enough time to rehab. I think he still has plenty left.

It seems like people here think it's impossible to come back from a ruptured patellar tendon injury. It's a significant injury, but you can make it back. I ruptured my patellar tendon when I was young and made it all the way back to the All Star poster you see today.

Loved Joel when he was here ... but those are some pretty tough injuries to come back from at his age.

rolled my eyes about 8 times in this thread.

seriously Im waiting to hear see a joel should start thread.

JOEL FOR STARTING! Lets do this! Vanilla Gorilla!

It has been over 8 months since he has played, it should be easy enough to visually see if he has any mobility. In Brandon's case yes he can get worse as the season goes on. But for Joel, and I am no doctor, I would assume he can either move laterally or he can't. One quick workout will tell.

I don't understand why people want NBA players to pretend to be tough. Who cares if they thump their own chest and pretend that theyd throw a punch. It's not like any of them would last more than a couple seconds in a real MMA style fight, its just fake posturing. Go play basketball and don't pretend to be something your not.

Joel's playing career is more or less over. No player has ever had a complete recovery from the type of injuries that he's had. Patella tendon tears and rebuilds are career ending injuries with a far worse prognosis then all of Oden's injuries. I guess we could bring him back in a role that Theo Ratliff played for the Lakers last year, but I'm not expecting that to help the team in any way.

I love seeing all the online doctors in this thread, analyzing Pryz without having seen anything or knowing what they're talking about in the first place.

I see no harm in having him come for a few workouts for the team to see how his mobility, strength and jumping looks.

This...

I say no. I like Joel quite a bit for what he did as a Blazer, but he is old and coming off bad injuries. And there are other options that are in the D-league or ones that went undrafted that have a chance (even if it's a small one) of turning out to be a pearl. Even if Joel is healthy, and is playing decent, how long do you really think that will last at this point in his injury-riddled career? Let's find another, younger and healthier option.

And I love how some think every giant IF the blazers have, will pan out perfectly. Rolling eyes now at 11 times.

I'm not saying we can't look at singing him for the vet minimum, but theres posters here talking about blowing the entire MLE on him, and talking about Pryz again being a great reserve NBA big man in this league. Some of us believe we have more realistic expectations.

All the comparable NBA players who've had similar injuries were shells of themselves when they came back. Damon, Ceballos, McDyess. Yes there are unknowns with any discussion on this board about how a player is going to perform in the future, but I feel very confident in my projection that Pryzbilla will never return to his glory years since it's never ever happened before to anybody in basketball.

What's your alternative? Who do you want? Chris Johnson?

Joel for vet's min. sounds OK to me if he is anywhere near his old form.

I don't think vet's min. is a big risk.

I don't think Joel will be anywhere near his old form. Time to move away from the past and look towards the future. JoPa was a nice story before the sex scandal broke, but did anyone outside University Park really believe he could guide them to a title in the last 20 years? Sometimes it's just time to move forward, and that's what time it is for this team. You have to try to catch lightning in a bottle, and you won't do that with Prz or Roy

Blazers should see what sheed is doing these days.

Chris Johnson is a string bean, but he can leap, he's long and can block shots and he's agile enough to slide his feet and play defense. It's sad to say it, but Johnson is probably a better player at this point than Joel.

I didn't need to look to see who started this thread.

I know, you should just put me on ignore, so you don't have to sort through optimism. You do know how to put a poster on ignore right?

I would agree with this. I never thought it was a CJ or Joel, I always assumed it was a CJ and Joel. They will be adding two big men for sure.
