I would agree with this. I never thought it was a CJ or Joel, I always assumed it was a CJ and Joel. They will be adding two big men for sure.

I'm not very excited about the prospect of either getting rotational minutes, but for a minimum salary player a team could do worse. Hopefully they can be adequate stopgaps. If either could contribute similar to Juwan Howard 2 years ago that would be awesome.

2 criteria for a back-up big man.

A) Younger and healthier than Camby.

B) Has a higher ceiling than Johnson/Barron.

Freeland would meet those. So would quite a few guys in Europe, or even the D league.

Pryz, Chris Dudley and Dale Schluter do not.

ooh fun game!

How many roster spots are open? In any case I'd much rather see the Blazers pursue a legitimate backup 4

That's probably the role he's best suited to playing, but we can't afford him this year even if he was amenable.

Didn't ask if that was his best role. I was asking do you think he would be fine being the back up PF? And yeah I do agree we really didn't have a shot on him anyways.

With Chris and Armon Johnson on the roster we have two spots available. I'd like to see us add two big men, one of which can play the 4 and the other the 5, or one guy who can play either. We need someone to man the middle if Camby is out but we also need someone to spell LaMarcus for a few minutes. If we want to add a third free agent I'd be fine cutting Armon. With Felton, Smith, Elliot, Roy, it isn't critical to have him on the roster.

No. We need to carry 3 true PG's. If you cut Armon then you need to add another one.

I wouldn't mind Przy just to help CJ learn the ropes of post defense. CJ can jump out of the gym and can block a few shots, but he's one of those help defenders that's nigh-on useless against a post player (of any size, since even Andre Miller outweighs him). But Joel could teach him some tricks: pulling the chair, blocking against the post, taking a charge. CJ could be a charge-taking machine since he's so slight. Refs would eat it up if he got good at it.

I know, you should just put me on ignore, so you don't have to sort through optimism. You do know how to put a poster on ignore right?
He should, since so many of us ignore him when his username was Mixum

Wrong. Prz played arguably the best basketball of his career during the 07-08, 08-09, and 09-10 seasons before he was injured. He looked like shit last year because he hadn't had enough time to rehab. I think he still has plenty left.

Really he was good last year? What the fuck are you smoking tlong? He hhad limited mobility and was barely effective while he was here...he gets traded to Charlotte and was worse...in fact barely even played.....

"Best basketball of his career?"

What a bunch of fucking bullshit....

Look if you want to have a Blazer reunion and suck shit, then by all means root for our inept mgmt to resign him...but if you actually want POR to imropve, then stay the fuck clear of him, he is done.....

It seems like people here think it's impossible to come back from a ruptured patellar tendon injury. It's a significant injury, but you can make it back. I ruptured my patellar tendon when I was young and made it all the way back to the All Star poster you see today.

Yeah, CLEARLY we should use your "experience" as an example....

Maybe you can try reading. Where he said he looked like shit last year. No? Missed that?

Doesn't fucking matter, he is on the downside of his career, expecting him to rebound to anywhere close to previous form is sheer folly....

Oh really? And why is that? I've got news for ya...a ruptured patellar doesn't mean you're a cripple for the rest of your life.

I love seeing all the online doctors in this thread, analyzing Pryz without having seen anything or knowing what they're talking about in the first place.

I see no harm in having him come for a few workouts for the team to see how his mobility, strength and jumping looks.

I have to agree with the 2nd part. We're talking about significant minutes for either 38y/o Marcus Camby, Chris "SuperBantamWeight" Johnson, Earl Barron, or someone like Jeff Pendergraph 2.0. Przy has at least shown the ability to be an NBA player. If he wants to come to camp and show he's either D-U-N done or capable of some decent PT, then I'm ok with that.

Now, if he's getting his knee drained every 3 days, and the team is still playing him 25mpg, then we'll have disagreements.

I wager Reggie Evans is a gut we are going after, played for nate in seattle and an excellent rebounder

Not a lot of skill and very scrappy as well. Total Nate guy

well given what's available in our price range everyone will have some significant issues, if we want a tough rebounding PF then Evans IMO is a fairly decent choice.

Yes an Evans level player would be a good add. He could play well with LaMarcus or briefly with Wallace in the frontcourt. However I wouldn't want to pair Evans out there on the floor with Camby or Chris Johnson or Penegraph, our offense would fall apart. So I think we'd still need to add another big, one that is at least average offensively.

I agree totally. That offense would be hard to watch.

I will say 8 rebounds a game last year in just 22 minutes/gm is not to shabby.
