He'll be injured next summer.![]()
I don't think he regrets it. The Blazers' alternative would have been to cut him loose and make him UFA. That he signed, and it seems amicable, says quite a bit about his character. He didn't screw over the team after the team held up its end of the bargain. He did good by the fans - as best he could.
Well, my question is whether he knew this was going to happen and signed the 1 year offer anyway, or was this setback news to even Oden?

I have a feeling it was news to oden. From the pictures and comments he looked in good spirits. He was talking about proving his worth.
We still good on the Oden/max thingie?
That's my feeling, and that's exactly why I thought this was a dumb move by Oden. It wasn't even a couple days after he signed that one year deal that he's injured and possibly out for the season. What team is going to open the checkbook for a guy who hasn't played in three seasons (after this one ends)? The guy doesn't have a good track record. I bet he's already regretting the move.
we'd have him locked up for 6 years and could amnesty him whenever we want. Still a valid move.
I thought only deals signed prior to the new CBA were eligible for amnesty. Not so?

I think he stated previously he wanted to offer Oden max extension before last season, thus making him eligible to use amnesty on.
