neil has a 100% hit rate on every single second round pick in his tenure. doubt he gives up that responsibility to someone else

Giving Neil any credit is grounds for execution. Please turn yourself in at once.

Quick said a couple weeks ago that Boston was a team with interest in CJ. I’ll be surprised if Olshey pulls the trigger, but Marcus Smart would definitely interest me. Could throw in Tristan Thompson and one of their minimum guys to make the money work.
Marcus Smart is exactly what we need more of on this team. Get him and Draymond. Become one of the best defenses in the league and let Dame close games.

Listening to this there are some details about Zach he didn't put in the story:

1. His agent and people around the league think he will be signed ~5 million per year. Slim chance Portland is the one paying it.

2. Apparently the first two surgeries were botched by the surgeon. He feels a lot better after this 3rd surgery which was done by team USA's doctor. WTF?
he also said the first doc was picked by Zach's camp and not the blazers.

Also "looking for a small forward". Trying to trade CJ to do it. Dunno what the team thinks Simmons is, but I don't see many small forwards (or wings) available. They are probably also scared to pull the trigger on any CJ deals without some sort of verbal commitment from Powell. Even if you get something good for CJ, if his supposed replacement goes elsewhere that kind of fucks things up.

Neil drafted Dame and gave him a starting role right from the getgo. Only other PG he signed was… Ronny Price? It was a great move to hand keys to Dame and give him full confidence.

Full confidence that he was never gonna have a backup pg and to carry this team, too.

Some fans set themselves up to be unhappy, regardless.
Decision after decision I've disagreed with Neil initially but just sighed and hoped he'd turn out to be right... that there was some big picture issue(s) & upside that I just wasn't seeing. Nope!

For the past few seasons I'm relegated to just waiting for him to be fired so I can start having hope again. Soapy sucks at his job.

Thank god. Seems to be the reason why he doesn’t have the tone where he’s blaming the blazers. I was starting to wonder how the relationship between the team and Collins wasn’t souring. This makes sense.

I'm betting Neil doesn't give a shit about the second round and just lets the scouting department take over for that.
I wish he had let the scouting department make all the first round picks in the 2017 draft; I will never believe that the scouting department thought Caleb Swanigan was the one to pick.

That was one of the bigger reaches in draft history, even taking into account all of the Knicks picks (Ronaldo Balkman anyone?).

The funny thing is, a lot of people here talked themselves into believing that was a good pick.
